12362, On a larger scale...

First of all we have to come to an agreement of which is the right path to take. And if we as a people fail to do so, then we have to be prepared to make amends so that we won't have any further division amongst us. We have to agree to disagree and yet still be somewhat supportive of those who disagree with us. "I may not agree with the road that you are taking, but if you need help don't be afraid to ask me!!!"

I look back at Booker T. and W.E.B., and see that these two men had very different paths for upliftment of their people. Yet they also had a feud that stunted any full scale movement on a all encompassing level. Sure both were able to achieve success nationwide, but there was a division that hampered FULL progression of African-Americans as a people, in my opinion. Thass where I do not want African-Americans to go again. Having that division.

Education in the arts is not for everyone. Nor is vocational training. However, knowledge of the other can and should bring greater results in the end. A curriculum that emphasizes this and allows those to find and choose which one they fit best in and contribute the greatest to, is warranted. It should also be practiced that no discipline is held in higher regard because both need to work together to benefit the whole community, not just one and not the other. This was a part of the division between Washington and DuBois.

Basically, in order for us to make things happen we must be able to ork together and be able to look past disagreement and be supportive of the needs of the many. Not the needs of those few.
