This is a different situation. You are talking about Ireland and Northern Ireland as if they are the same country. Ireland is it's own nation and Northern Ireland is a rightful part of Ireland claimed and currently (for the last 500 years) occupied by England. If you go to Norther Ireland, Sinn Fein (the IRA would be inaccurate when compared to the Taliban) has as much or more support with Catholics than Taliban does with it's people. The only people that want the British in Northern Ireland are the British and the Protestants that live there.
