IROSUN MEJI
Do not live life in a hurry
The Diviner of the house of the king
Do not take a title impatiently
Diviner of the Jero Hill
There is another life afterward
It is very sweet; like a person licking honey

"Do not live life in a hurry". We must learn to be patient and quite our senses for truth can reveal itself in various ways. If we just slow our roll we will not miss out on so many needed lessons and blessings in life. The Odu further inculcates us to not take a "title" impatiently. Here, a "title" may mean lofty words of praise that may be veils for evil plotting. It could be a seemingly good thing that actually conceals something negative that can take one away from their center. Or it could be the offering of jobs. Will you just jump at that first offer knowing that you are worth more than what they are presenting to you?


Irosun Meji tells us that there is another life afterward. This is simply based on the fact that where we are now is not and could not be the all in all. So we must do things in this life that will prepare us for the next. The Yoruba teach that the divine Ancestors, those that Olodumare allows to decide to reincarnate and/or provide guidance for their living descendants, are those that exemplified divine character within their individual lives, their families, community, and nation.
