the deal allows the Lakers to avoid the tax, meaning it results in a drop to the revenue share the small market teams just secured. it also helps the Lakers competitively, by most estimations, and increases the wage bill in NO.

so basically it costs $$ for the other 28 owners, by shrinking their revenue share, by hurting the ticket sales in NO, and by increasing their wage obligations in NO as well.

Dan Gilbert isn't wrong in protecting his self-interest here, but that's why the league shouldn't own a team in the 1st place.
