All good minus the Sixers diss ...

edit: Imagine his rant if the Heat actually beat the Mavs!!!! LOL

Challenger-
81756, Pretty sure he was counted as a doubter at one point
Posted by RaFromQueens, Sat May-28-11 11:21 AM
but he does actually live in Miami
81757, nah, I thnk he was pretty much on the bandwagon from day 1...
Posted by ThaTruth, Sat May-28-11 11:42 AM
after The Decision
81758, dude it's called 'PURPLE DRANK 2' for a reason
Posted by Bombastic, Sat May-28-11 12:30 PM
pretty safe to say LeBetard has been on board since The Decision.
81759, right...dude went on an epic rant like the next day
Posted by Dstl1, Sat May-28-11 05:27 PM
.
81760, I stand corrected

His facial expression in that pic had me dying.
81763, that dude was annoying as hell before but its even worse now
Posted by ThaTruth, Sat May-28-11 11:41 AM
81764, before I listen...is it better than the original free agent signing rant?
Posted by LegacyNS, Sat May-28-11 11:56 AM
cuz that shit was gold.. lol

81766, .... NOPE
Posted by Kira, Sat May-28-11 01:12 PM
It's not even remotely as funny as purple drank. When the Heat win the chip in 5 games you'll hear the ultimate celebratory party.
81767, lmao did he make that after game 2 or game 5?
Posted by CherNic, Sat May-28-11 01:00 PM
Not as funny as the OG, but he's definitely insane
81768, THIS is the real rant, lol (link)

As good, if not better than the 3 Kings rant after they signed LeBron & Bosh.
81769, the first three minutes they're passing out L's...
Posted by Dstl1, Sat May-28-11 06:01 PM
like free cheese. Still can't say it's quite as funny as the first one, though.
81770, that Charles Barkley line, smh, ether
Posted by ChampAreno, Sat May-28-11 07:45 PM
that's SERIOUS ether. i'm sorry, the sound his rings make when he throws his hands on the table. omg. and Noah has hair lice lolol
81771, LOL ... he murders, revives then kicks Barkley in the face at 2:34
Posted by Challenger, Sat May-28-11 07:47 PM

Challenger-
81772, that was funny - more tamed than the 1st one but it was good
Posted by vee-lover, Sat May-28-11 06:09 PM
I like how he took a shot at all these sports writing experts saying the Heat would lose to Boston and Chicago....
81773, An important point to make imo
Posted by RaFromQueens, Sat May-28-11 10:03 PM
>I like how he took a shot at all these sports writing experts
>saying the Heat would lose to Boston and Chicago....

The narrative of choice for sports journalists will probably be the heat were supposed to win all along.
81774, Well before the season started they were the favorites, though.

81781, I'm dying over here
Posted by Jekyll_Hyde, Sun May-29-11 12:26 AM
I have obviously been on another planet, because this is the first time I've heard any of these. I will never look at Dan LeBatard the same way again. This stuff is gold.

The line about the sound Barkley's rings make is just downright cold. Damn.

Too funny. I already wanted the Heat to win, but now I will be downright pissed if they don't because I want to hear what he has in store for everybody if they get the championship.
81782, I'm pretty excited for the next time he has Barkley on...
Posted by connectpoliticditto, Sun May-29-11 01:07 PM
Which will probably be Monday or Tuesday. That should be funny, they're friends but this should make for funny discussion either way.
81783, Hopefully somebody posts that on here
Posted by Jekyll_Hyde, Sun May-29-11 01:15 PM
I definitely want to hear what Barkley has to say to LeBatard now.

81793, Ric ethered LeBatard
Posted by Kira, Sun May-29-11 08:21 PM
He made an excellent point about Lebron that will not be forgotten. There's Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade giving Lebron free reign to do what he does.

There are three GMs in the league who could get their star player that kind of *help*.
81794, he's the exact same player as he was in cleveland
Posted by bshelly, Sun May-29-11 08:46 PM
81795, but didnt he always have free reign?
Posted by Dstl1, Sun May-29-11 08:53 PM
.
81796, This is in no way a knock at the Cavs...
Posted by Kira, Mon May-30-11 12:36 AM
... But Lebron didn't have top 4 superstars from his draft class as teammates. Like Bucher said Lebron could take 8-9 minutes off while Bosh or Wade put up numbers.

Pat Croce/Billy King couldn't do it for AI in Philly.

Very few GMs in the league could surround their superstar with that much "help".

81797, Jordan had Pippen, a 5th pick, and Grant, a 10th pick.
Posted by Frank Longo, Mon May-30-11 09:17 AM
Bird had McHale, a 3rd pick, and Parish, an 8th pick.

Magic had Worthy, a 1st pick, Abdul-Jabbar, a 1st pick, and Scott, a 4th pick.

I missed the part of NBA history that criticized them for having high pick teammates. Could you point that out to me, please?
81798, Did you really just cite Horace fucking Grant as an example?
Posted by Kira, Mon May-30-11 01:08 PM
I'm talking top three superstars of his draft class here. This is *almost* an unprecedented level of GMing on Riley's part. D Rose is working with what he's got.

It's real easy to say Lebron was the better player of the series even though he didn't have to do half as much work, could take long stretches off while not having to have an impact on the game all the time.
81799, Horace Grant was a baller, young
Posted by bshelly, Mon May-30-11 04:01 PM
http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/g/grantho01.html

during his peak he was good for 12-16 on better than 50 percent shooting, 10 board, a steal, and a block a night, in addition to very solid post defense. he was a little overrated, but he (familiar refrain) is better than any teammate bron had in cleveland.
81800, lol @ them ignoring 'from the same draft class' part of that post
Posted by Dr Claw, Mon May-30-11 09:59 PM
maybe it is irrelevant in the grand scheme of things
but this is like Jordan somehow being on the same team as Olajuwon and Barkley.

there is no reasoning with dickriders.
81801, It's not dickriding, Doc. The "year" point is totally trivial.
Posted by Frank Longo, Tue May-31-11 09:02 AM
If you have multiple All-Stars on your team that were high draft picks, you have help.

It has yet to be determined if Bosh or even Wade will be an HOFer. Bird had two. Jordan had two (when Rodman gets in). Magic had two.

Draft class is totally irrelevant. Talent level and production from those players is relevant.
81802, rubbish.
Posted by Dr Claw, Tue May-31-11 11:37 AM
you don't know if you have "help" until they prove it, which is what Horace, Pip, and the others had to do w/Jordan.

81803, EXACTLY.
Posted by Frank Longo, Tue May-31-11 01:34 PM
If they hadn't had proven themselves to be worth their draft pick, the stars on their squads would have truly struggled to win a title. Just like Lebron did.

The "year" of the draft class doesn't matter. You guys are upset that he is now with established stars. But when the stars are established will not be remembered in the history books if Bron wins rings. The only time that will matter is if Bron FAILS to win rings with established stars. Otherwise, he's just another leader of a cast of stars like Jordan, Bird, Magic, etc.
81804, it's not just like with those other leaders though
Posted by 40thStreetBlack, Tue May-31-11 04:02 PM
>he's just another leader of a cast of stars like Jordan, Bird,
>Magic, etc.

those guys were all the clear leader without question. Lebron is the better player than Wade but he's more of a co-leader of the team than was the case with any of those other guys you named.

and LOL at it not being determined yet if Wade will be a HOFer.

81805, Do you think Lebron's legacy of greatness will be asterisked?
Posted by Frank Longo, Thu Jun-02-11 11:25 AM
I don't think it will.

I don't disagree with what you're saying about more of a "co-leader" system than most great teams have. But I'm trying to establish that having HOFers around you does not diminish legacy, regardless of when they arrived.

Abdul-Jabbar joining the Lakers doesn't leave people today saying "Multiple MVP winner/one time champion who left to play on Magic Johnson's team." No one gives a shit, cuz rings are rings, MVPs are MVPs, and HOFers are HOFers regardless of how they got put together.
81806, RE: Ric ethered LeBatard
Posted by Drewmathic, Mon May-30-11 12:14 AM

Posted by Bombastic, Mon May-30-11 02:36 PM
you are consistent.
81808, Heat 06 Riley had both Shaq and Zo. 1st 2nd picks, same draft
Posted by Challenger, Thu Jun-02-11 10:56 AM
Wade has hit the lotto twice. Riley is The Godfather ... it's personal w/him. Probably has a dart board with Feel's face and 11 chips as motivation.

Has 6, all works out well w/the Heat starting THIS year, could be closing in on FEEL realllll sooonnnnnn ...
