because we know at least 1 referee has plead guilty to gambling on & manipulating games in which he was officiating. And we haven't even got to the other referees who might be implicated in gambling (which might ALSO lead to other who manipulated games that they officiated)

You can try to downplay it all you want but the fact is that this is POTENTIALLY CATASTHOPHIC for the NBA, period.

If Vick is gone from NFL, even under these circumstances, big deal.. because the NFL will survive & moves on.

When Barry Sanders abruptly retired, the NFL moved on..
When Magic abruptly announced his retirement, the NBA moved on.
When Jordan abruptly announced his retirement, the NBA moved on.

However, NO LEAGUE CAN'T MOVE ON IF THE LEAGUE CEASES TO EXIST. That's why it's a bigger story. Because of it's potential to destroy the credibility of the sport.
