to me, I just see it as a visibility issue where he got caught in a sudden cloud layer, and couldn't see, descended fast to get out of it ( maybe he saw hills approaching) , and then hit the hill. That makes the most sense to me.

But as we both have stated, we don't know. However,we are all going to wreck our brains trying to figure it out.....just human nature.
