Witness said it was very cloudy and helicopter was flying in the clouds, suspects the helicopter flew straight into the hill (rather than crashing down) based on where it was flying, the sound of the impact, and the immediate silence after. He didn't hear any malfunctions on the helicopter.

So hopefully there was no suffering, before or during impact.
