People make projections. Thus far, things are playing out pretty neatly along the lines of initial draft day expectations. Russ was the guy everyone thought would be a year or two away. What's so hard to understand about that? #2 draft pick or not, that's what was said about him before he was even drafted.

You're looking at a draft slot and basing expectations solely on that and nothing else. The expectation is that he's probably going to be really good, maybe even a superstar. The expectation was also that it would take him longer to reach his ceiling than the other projected top picks.
