hand speed. i'm sure there are a few dudes on here that are good strikers.

her striking isn't that great, it used to be horrible to non-existent, but she's worked on it to the point where it is dangerous. she ain't knocking out a 200 plus pound athletic dude though. she might toss just about anyone untrained though, her judo is world class and that stuff depends way less on weight than you would think.

... has a chance, sure. Certainly a better chance than 95% of the "size advantage" dudes in here who don't train on the regular, much less devote their entire lives to the art of fighting.

6'2" 235, 43yo but great strength and cardio
Trained bjj, got a blue belt, but could hang with the more advanced guys(purples and browns, if we did no-gi). No one other than my wrestling coach could take me down on a regular basis. My Thai boxing was damn good, natural hand speed, real power with either hand, esp hooks and uppercuts. Fought 2 MMA fights against guys that were 280 and 300 pounds and I weighed 210 at the time finished both by KO inside of a minute. Fought two submission grappling matches, won both of those. After that I realized I was pretty good, but didn't care to put the time and effort in to be elite.

All of this was in my late 20s. But I still train and spar regularly and teach self defense workshops. Back then along with my instructor I trained spec ops guys in ground fighting, clinch situations, etc. I have techniques and knowledge now that would make it really difficult for 26 year old me to beat 43 year old me.

I sparred with some really solid MMA fighters that were lighter(155, 170), and never felt like they could really hurt me. And one of my knees or elbows would crumble them.

I really have no idea if I could beat what's looking like the worlds best female fighter, but I imagine it would be an uphill battle for her to get me on the ground, and I'm scared of what one of my elbows or power punches would do to her if it landed cleanly. If I did end up on the ground in a funky position I'm pretty sure you could say goodbye to one of my elbows or shoulders. And hey, if she could beat me, she can probably beat basically anyone who isn't an elite fighter or world class power athlete, no shame in losing to that person. Size matters though, anyone who doesn't think it does is an idiot, but the bigger person has to have athleticism and some degree of skill, not a couch potato or someone that goes to the gym and benches and curls.

Just the fact that a 150 pound chick strikes fear in the hearts of men is pretty cool though.

I'm a big guy, with at least 100 pounds and nine inches on her, so it's hard to imagine that in terms of raw size and strength she'd be able to do much with me. On the other hand, I'm old, slow, and unskilled, so she'd probably hurt me real bad.

So before answering, I'd like to see her take on some OTHER out-of-shape middle-aged dude with no MMA training and a bad back, then answer based on that result.

This is a woman who is trained to fight. She will beat most untrained fighters, regardless of size.

just because you're bigger and taller than someone doesn't mean you'll automatically get a win. she's a world class fighter. who trains and spars with men her size and bigger all the time. the fact that they could beat her is pointless because they are also trained fighters. the average guy has zero training.

could you probably beat up a regular 5'7 135 lb woman, absolutely. could you be up Ronda Rousey, absolutely not. the fact that she's a woman does not negate her training, skills and strength.

At the same time I've seen some more fierce athletic types (yes, small) that can learn and master so many things that are the ultimate equalizers in fights. I've seen Asian chick who is dating an MMA fighter / trainer hit the pads like a ton of bricks too. The type of pop that gets you to stop whatever it is you're doing.

I'm 6'1" 230 and have never felt physically threatened by a woman, but I have been out-crazied before, and a bitch has the ability to out-crazy you any day of the week. Couple that with some learned skills and the toughness of experience, and yeah you probably will get your ass whipped by Rhonda fuckin Rousey

I'm aware he founded Jeet Kun Do and trained like a demon, but how much actually fighting did Bruce Lee do? I ask because in the scenario mentioned above, I have to wonder how well Bruce Lee would take a punch from Muhammad Ali IF and only IF he never actually fought, especially to the extent Muhammad Ali did.

And he had several fights once he became famous.

this kinda goes back to this crazy idea that people have about fighting. Ali is just a boxer. all Bruce Lee (who i know is mostly an actor) would have to do is kick him a few times and Ali is thrown off. he wouldn't know what to do. yes, if Bruce stood there and let himself get punched by Ali it'd be over pretty qickly, but it's doubtful that he'd just allow that.

i'm 6'3 250, in decent shape even though i've been slacking with my workouts lately. i also know how to a little bit and i'm stronger, my punches would take way more out her than her punches would me.

She wouldn't try to exchange a bunch of punches with you, she's going to try to pull you into her domain... the question is whether you have the speed and balance to avoid a skillful take down.

But I'm a big boy. 6'4 290. If I get my hands on her, it is pretty much over. I'd maul her like a bear. I don't think she would be strong enough to wrestle or use submission moves against me. All I need to do is grab her at some point.

I was sixteen the last time I was in a fight, but that went pretty uneventfully. I got spiked a few times in races in college. So... earlier than both of those?

Anyhow, if a person actually caused me physical pain on purpose? Too alien. It's like tripping on a sidewalk crack and falling down when you're an adult. Happens all the time when you're a kid but now it's like world-altering and confusing.

I can't rule out results like:

Any of us stand a chance if she's had three shots of 151 fresh out of practice without a break.

I do train (MMA, BJJ, kickboxing - 5 years experience). I would never take fighting Rhonda lightly, and I'm not certain I could beat her in a street fight. Maybe if I was on point that day, and she was at her worst, I'd feel pretty good about it.

The main issue is I would never clinch with her. Never. My striking was much better than hers when she first started, but every time she fights it's exponentially better, and I couldn't say for sure now. Not to mention, most of her fights are so short we don't get to see it.

I've sparred with several amateur and pro female fighters who are nowhere near Rhonda's level. Smaller doesn't necessarily mean lesser, isn't automatically a weakness, and I've learned that the hard way. I also want to say the ONLY time Rhonda weighs 135 is the day she weighs in for a fight. No other time. In a normal street fight, she'd likely be at her normal weight, which I'd wager is around 160+.

For an idea of how irrelevant weight can be in a street fight with a trained MMA fighter, look for Roger Huerta's club altercation. And Roger Huerta was nowhere near as successful as Rhonda.

Like I mentioned in my long ass post up there, if you were on the ground with her in any sort of unfamiliar position, you are getting something broken. If she's standing next to you and clinches with you, you are getting tossed. Some hip tosses and throws are actually a lot easer against a taller opponent as well.

Like I mentioned in the general discussion thread that spawned this post, she's been involved with judo since she was a child and her mother is also a world judo champion, so landing those throws I'm sure is second nature to her now as a grown adult. I wonder how much she works in her judo when she currently trains for fights.

In a street fight environment as mentioned in this thread, normal clothes like a jacket or coat and pants or jeans pretty much serve as a gi in terms of her getting easy throws and trips. The only shot of beating her in a street fight scenario IMO is the knock her out, land a liver shot somehow, or break her legs, knees, or ankles somehow. This is assuming the scenario is a fair one with no weapons involved.

In addition to the 80-100 pound different he has on her, this judo background and overall MMA experience came in handy in terms of Gegard schooling her in that grappling session.
