outside of a few crazy people on this site, nobody is looking at this through a racial lens. Those that do are just playing the same role they always do... it's become cartoonish and only hinders a discussion on legitimate issues of racial bias.

Everything else you said is spot on... and it goes beyond this board. You had a lot of so-called experts also making knee jerk claims that have since blown up in there faces. Some have fallen on their swords and admitted they were wrong... but what this shows more than anything is how many people speak in absolutes without thinking about the nuances and multiple factors that come with being successful\unsuccessful in a game like football. It's just rare we get a chance to see it in such stark and naked terms such as what's happened with Alex Smith.

But instead of what should be a teachable moment for some has become a declaration of war with them grasping at any straw still available just so they don't have to own their ignorance. It's one of the most character revealing moments I've seen on this board or anywhere for that matter.
