The Pats wanted to wipe their hands clean of this mess before it got worse. "Inside information" is the wrong term. The move is not bitch made at all. It's smart to move on before it affects your team. They may have known some things that the media and public were not privy to yet, as they have a right to. Rather than let the questions continue to pour in while the rest of us await an official announcement, they decided to rid themselves of the distraction.
