After a long night on I-95 I've finally made it home only to find this tournament in shambles. As of right now we've got a 4-4 tie for Shakeet vs. Nile and a DQ for this week. I got a verse from willi but nothing from Ezzsential. I got to say Ezz, this is whack as hell--- why do you always agree to sign up for tourneys and then send nothing in?? I get psyched to see what you're gonna do and then you just don't show. You know I got nothing but respect for ya but this shit is just ridiculous.

Anyways here's what we're going to do to make the best of this situation. As of now Sha vs. Nile is in sudden death mode. The first vote that I get in here will decide the winner of that match. If nobody steps in and speaks their mind by next Friday at 8pm when I got to post the next round then I'm just going to have to go with my vote and give Nile the win. I know nobody wants that-- including myself so come on I know we got a few folks listening who haven't weighed in yet. I know this is a real tough decision to make and both these guys put on quite a show but there's can be only one winner in an event like this so speak now or forever hold your goddang opinion.

As far as this week's battle goes willi's advancing. I know there's nothing to vote on, but it's not his fault so please try and give him feedback. I know from my own experience in week 3 that it sucks to put in the work on an audio and not get any response 'cause the other person DQ'd. So here's willi's verse and link:

(i know i got'chall wonderin/thinkin) i wonder what this one's gon be about (rpt)....well if you open up ya ears and ya close ya mouf,
i'mma tell ya what its all about...check!!!

so i aint moved enough units to brag like jay z,
cant do it like busta, that dude just crazy;
guess if you aint from the north then its tough to succeed,
and so i wonder where that places me: a ripe
product of this hip hop tree,
looks like i gotta be the one that fell a good ways from it,
cause i'm different doggummit,
and i'm also pretty thin so just imagine my patience,
when guys is puffin out the chest like cant be deflated:
brag about this and that like they cant be faded,
hope i get on and drop some bombs and leave them suckas berated;
tawkin nuff nonsense like they been thru perdition,
i knock they chin up and they curl up into fetal position:
but im not puttin this out to be a cry for battle,

and here's the schedule for the last week of this first round and what we've got so far for round 2. there's been a lot of great stuff in this thing especially last week's battle. I'm real dissappointed with this week's showing but I know I'm hyped as hell to see lif and ric throw down next friday

WEEK SIX Friday 3/17:

Miracleric vs. Prolif

********ROUND TWO********

WEEK SEVEN Friday 3/24

Zin vs. ((the winner of Shakeet Lohk Em vs. Nile))

WEEK EIGHT Friday 3/31

willi_dudat vs. blak_yukon

WEEK NINE Friday 4/7

hdub vs. ((the winner of Miracleric vs. Prolif))
18314, vote on sha vs. nile right in here....

......next vote decides the winner

just wanted to make extra sure that was clear
18315, my bad for not voting...

ok, so at first i heard Sha's and was pleased. The flow was off a tad bit in some places. A couple of voice overs or doubles would have fixed that. The content (as most have mentioned) was definitely on point. I'm not a fan of re-using beats however, although it worked well for you.

so i was so frustrated with trying to get Nile's joint to play that i was like, "yo, this betta be good b/c i'm wasting way too much time trying to listen to this crap!" Turns out that it was worth the wait. Although some of the other tracks were better than the one u chose for the competition, the production, cadence, and mic presence were all very good. I can tell you feel comfortable in the booth. I think the "somen' somen' somen' somen' bout a thug" line got me...ill

this was really close...overall Sha had the lyrics and Nile had the flow. it's like, i wanna sit the youth down and play Sha's joint and say, "listen to this boy!" and then i wanna let them hear Nile's joint and say, "now this is a flow young'n"...i think it's a tie and they should go again, but since ties aint really liked that much around here, i'll give it to.......

VOTE: Sha

yeah you were one of those folks where i was wondering why you hadnt showed up on this yet. that's why i threatened to go all autocratic i figured it would draw at least somebody out. so that's settled, sha wins it. by far the best battle i've seen in a long long time. shit, maybe ever. like lif said part of me wants to give a win both guys but in this type of tournament that just wouldn't work. still congrats to you both for putting on a show and nile thanks for participating

so with that settled here's the rest of the schedule so far:

WEEK SIX Friday 3/17:

Miracleric vs. Prolif

WEEK SEVEN Friday 3/24

Zin vs. Shakeet Lohk Em

WEEK EIGHT Friday 3/31

beat was different, I mean that in a good way, felt it. lyrics were tight too, you had something to say, and you said it, I felt the last verse the most. good shit. for constructive crit, imo: I think more sharpness might work better in some parts, depending on what your talkin about. to me it just sounded like you kept the same tone for most of it. sucks about the DQ, but at least this was still entertaining, props homey

yeah, this was my lab rat for a while... it was just an experiment i first did on my ol' ass dr-202 (which i still own and use)... it took two years to get the point its at... not like i worked endlessly on it... most of the lyrics were originally written two years ago, but i did a lil editin (ie the third verse was half and half--old and new)...

thanks for checkin it out... and i'll def work on being more variant in tone, even when i am tryin to convey a message...

As far as production is concerned.. I can hear what you are trying to do with the drums, but it's not working as well as you want it to. The drums don't compliment eachother and sometimes you lose the beat. It's a great idea, I have attempted it before, and it just needs a bit more practice but you'll get it. Did you EQ every drum the same or did you EQ them seperately? I think they need to be more cohesive and more on the beat. The way I do it is by programming a drum pattern with one kit, and using another kit to substitute some of the kicks, hats, or snares, as apposed to trying to lay a different rhythm. From this point, I get more experimental as you do all over this track. Finally, I pick drums which sound good together.. a hard clap, a softer clap. A hard kick, a softer kick. Good job, I really dig the lyrics and you really got on point on the last verse, that's a great way to leave a track. Peace
