Yeah, I feel like I'm seeing ?uesto the hardline hip-hop "purist" knitting his brow in frustration when I read this post...even if you agree with most of the editorial in The Source, for me the concept of rating a hip-hop record's quality with a number of units lost its meaning many years ago...it just strikes me as such an obsolete way of validating hip-hop records, plus as some people mentioned, the writers consider the artists' lifestyles and fashion sensibilities when they make their ratings, which is overly judgemental. I mean, they can rattle off a number of mikes to "measure" your record by, but can they tell you who James "Blood" Ulmer is? ?uest, you should find satisfaction for yourself, man.
