i don't think they're racist at all. i don't think they DON'T want the roots/etc's fan base... they just don't want to LIMIT themselves to that fan base. and they feel that if they align themselves closely with those artists, they will limit themselves to only having fans that are roots fans or whatever. i don't think they're racist, and i don't think they were trying to diss any particular person or group. they just don't want to limit themselves.

i just saw them on sunday in anaheim and i didn't get the impression that they were against having white fans at all.
