the best sounding show ever-brighton england. the night we were really born. they provided us with turbo speakers and it was 5 times the system we asked for. no one knew us. but was forced to dance cause the bass forced em to.

the best small spot outside US (grime)-Hull,UK. venue held like 400. nice speakers. rahzel did a weed brownie one night and did stand up for his solo. we became legends in that area.

favorite city-LA --house of blues. i love visiting la. i love driving 100mph on the freeway. and the thought of our peers watching us and taking notes....priceless

HOTTTTEST VENUE!-gypsy tea room (dallas tx), and st andrews hall (the D)--no air, so hot i would take my shirt off had we did an extra 3 mins on stage

smallest venue-this frathouse in princeton i think there were 70 people in living room

nightmare venue- the big ass spot in milwaukee it is the worst echo chamber EVER!

personal favorite for dumb reason-HOB in chicago cause right after the show you take secret elevator to bottom floor and tunnel leads you right into heaven (cue simpsons "ahhhhhh" intro theme) the bowling joint right in the hotel!!!!! yes!

city for tech shit-tokyo

city for records-portland or. got a SCILLION used spots.

city just to walk around and chill-san fran

city i frown on-houston....sorry we have not played a proper venue in our 10 year history here. first time there i got mased, second time was in a makeshift gas station with jeru (no bullshit), 3rd time with the fugees wasn't all ....um that bad...(venue was a makeshift strip club) i shouldnt complain---at the summit in 95 mike d. took me used drum shopping and pretty much most of the shit you heard me one is from these drums.

thank god they got a friggin venue, after 43 years!!!-cinn, ohio (hob)

love but dread it-paris. love the love i get. dread the cig smoke i have to endure.

act we will fuck up if we on the same bill again-f quaye

oops!-charging room service in our poor days to bootsy collins crew in amsterdamn in 96

motherfuck two times-austria

most encore city-3 henglo holland

bust an emcees ass night-chicago (fugees tour in 96--we invited a crew of 4 to freestyle and this dude took it upon himself to make himself a star by dissing) henglo holland-back in 95 as we were getting used to the idea that white people will indeed be our bread and butter rahzel (for what reason i dont know) decided to diss the opening act mc by calling him dougie houser---it was an 8mile battle--but hillarious. box set time im including this one.

bust a fan night-buffalo new york. last night of smokin grooves. kamal kicks a fans wrist who keeps grabbin for his balls. young fan's dad presses charges but drops em if "kid can get an autograph"....mal signs....kid gets shirt back and is like "who is this?" pops was like "you pay us with a nobody?!?!!??!" they want to press charges again cause kamal's celebrity aint big enough.---thank god B Real walked by.....the kid knew him and all was well again.

dumb shit-we get an upstate NY show canceled becasue of a brawl that went down at a digable show between DPs and fans once they heard mecca claim she was "98 million miles above these devils"

keith murray award-the gorge in washington.

jaw dropping moment done by headline act: watching zack perform with his middle finger up "fuck the police" in front of a slew of protesting cops at a rage show at the gorge. they couldn't touch him....so they harrased his fans instead doing random crowd searches.

i can go on....but damn....yall wouldn't cop the book!

HAHA, that's the RAVE. True, worst echo chamber. I saw ya'll with Common and dead prez in '99, and I couldn't hear shit. So I just got high and watched ya'll. So many hip hop shows are there, but the sound is awful.

I was there!!! Damn that was almost 10 years ago. It was basically the roots playing in a big a$$ living room. Lots of fun.

Reality check: according to the 2000 census, there were more than 31,000 black physicians and surgeons, 33,000 black lawyers. There are about 1,400 black athletes playing professional basketball, football and baseball combined.

1)i think you mentioned a time or two about jay z studying his audience and popular music and then aproximating his music to that. do you find that this site helps you to get an aproximate idea of your different audiences? if so do you ever adjust your music to what the fan base says, or do you just do what you and the rest of the group are feeling? i'd imagine that it can be tough at times as an artist to read the critiques (at times hate) of your music, especially with the diverse fan base at this site, so that no matter what you put out, someone's gonna find something to critique in a negative way.

2)who are your favorite hip hop groups from the bay area? any favorite albums from that location?

if so do you

>just do what you and the rest of the group are feeling?

it is impossible to make music without thinking of pleasing "someone"
and there are many crowds we have to please. but the ones on my mind the
most are critics. and its so strange--this year we won black people and lost critics.
next year....

electronic festival?

the old me (430lbs) was too much for the milk crate as steps to the drum riser to hold.

so as i step on the crate i break it and leg gets trapped inside. because this is going on in front of thousands i think the embarrasment gave me adrenaline not to notice that i had gashed about half a pint of blood from my left leg. i took 3 people and 2 minutes to free me up.

and then to drum with a bleeding leg on some fresh nikes in an open air show with people behind me looking at my deformed leg for a 90 minute show and me fronting like "i not hurt!"

shessssh

if i can get GT out the way quick enough before tourtime you may just get one. thing is we got enough material out there but in the age of madlib putting alot of work in his shit. i dont wanna release no shit that is subpar.

>3. which piece of your work are you most proud of and why?

as painful is it was to make and present. "water" was something that i could NEVER try again. i mean for approximating the lizzards loop, to making bong sounds to keeping the beat at the end.

Posted by howisya, Sun Sep-18-05 04:16 PM
most important one first
1. when a song on a roots album is credited as being produced by (insert non-roots member here) and that person and black thought receive the only writing credit, what was their exact involvement in the recording? if it varies, give examples. did they make a demo using their drum machines and MPC/SP/software and then oversee your band's recording of it or did you give them a producer credit without them being further involved past the demo stage? how often do you overdub their original demo beat?

2. how familiar are you with the 60s-70s krautrock (german avant-rock) band CAN? i think you'd really appreciate the unique approach to rhythm and instrumentation.

3. what is your favorite album or track by aphex twin?

4. why were these producers rejected from the tipping point: neptunes, kanye west, rjd2, 9th wonder

5. do you regret making or releasing any of the tipping point?

THANK YOU.

>demo beat?

we are in everyone's mix so the lines are blurred.
but pretty much the plan is

someone submits a demo
then we approximate it.
as in re do drums
bass
guitar etc etc.

me and rich pretty much take over the song after its demo stage.--i realized in the past that "oh!!! i did this and that and this and that and this!!!" is not all that important. so sometimes i will lay back on the credits so as to not overshadow someone else from getting some shine.

cause at the end of the day as "questlove" i can always get work.

meanwhile we done built a nation for producers and rarely use em cause i get cream of the crop.

but at the end of the day.

rich
riq
and me

are the deciding factor.

once in a blue moon some shit will escape without my knowledge (the nba 2006 "fire" jawn) but that is a rare move. i am too anal and too anal anal to just let someone demo they way on my record.

this has been the method since IH.

this album we will try to make it sound as "BAND" as possible.

i get dismayed when people ask me "will you guys be on the album next time?" its like they only want roots if i am behind a drumset that sounds like DYWM.--kinda like you will only date a girl if she looks like the video hoe she looked like last night in the club.

so its a double edged sword. we are just trying to really do shit we never done before.

>2. how familiar are you with the 60s-70s krautrock (german
>avant-rock) band CAN? i think you'd really appreciate the
>unique approach to rhythm and instrumentation.

paid about $125 for it.
then i found cd in japan for 15.99 :(

kanye- his style is very specific. i think the reason why some cats fail with his production (slum, dialated, brandy, dwele, janet, keish, first john single and "i'll try") is that the real appeal to kanye aint his "music"....its HIM. and unless you take on his mannerisms (underdog in the hizzhouse!! small world!!!! i made it !!! i won!! i won!!!!) that is what takes the song over the top...can't imagine janet singing "spaceship" right? and if kweli did "jesus walks" yall would laugh his ass out the club. cause we DO believe that Ye is a southside baptist christian. so it works. and the songs he gave us really didnt "fit" us...and we weren't willing to "humanize" ourselves that much.

we are in everyone's mix so the lines are blurred.
but pretty much the plan is

someone submits a demo
then we approximate it.
as in re do drums
bass
guitar etc etc.

me and rich pretty much take over the song after its demo stage.--i realized in the past that "oh!!! i did this and that and this and that and this!!!" is not all that important. so sometimes i will lay back on the credits so as to not overshadow someone else from getting some shine.

cause at the end of the day as "questlove" i can always get work.

meanwhile we done built a nation for producers and rarely use em cause i get cream of the crop.

but at the end of the day.

rich
riq
and me

are the deciding factor.

once in a blue moon some shit will escape without my knowledge (the nba 2006 "fire" jawn) but that is a rare move. i am too anal and too anal anal to just let someone demo they way on my record.

this has been the method since IH.

this album we will try to make it sound as "BAND" as possible.

i get dismayed when people ask me "will you guys be on the album next time?" its like they only want roots if i am behind a drumset that sounds like DYWM.--kinda like you will only date a girl if she looks like the video hoe she looked like last night in the club.

so its a double edged sword. we are just trying to really do shit we never done before.

>2. how familiar are you with the 60s-70s krautrock (german

phrenology was our most critically acclaimed album

so despite the mums of "real hip hop" fans
phren did nothing but make us the critics darlings that
we remained.

Tipping Point had production credits and all the jam session players, but didnt see who played on what track (my main problem is figuring who sang on what -- i.e. which hooks are Martin Luther and which are DOM? and who did the Pointro spoken word piece? etc etc)

who's the one exec (label boss/bean counter/lawyer) that you'd rather not tangle with in business... When I moved to NYC a few years ago I tried to negotiate a contract w/ Londell McMillan. Knowing his history w/ P, the Lox, Roberta etc, I was a bit star-shook into being unable to stand up hard for my points, ended up walking away from the deal (an exchange goes "I want *this*". him (his people): "it's nice to want, isn't it?")

Could be "shook", could be exec's "other ties" (one famous production duo threatened the life of my friend/producer/their ghost producer when he wanted to jump out doing solo production), etc...

2) Would you be opposed to backing Kanye in an unplugged show, a la Jay-Z?

3)So Jay-Z said on the radio last week that at his upcoming late October shows in NJ and Philly, he's gonna diss some people, maybe a new song.... What's the deal with that?

...as a drummer what would your advice be when approaching hiphop drumming. What are the hallmarks of a good hiphop drummer in your oppinion. What do you think should get the most emphasis kick snare or hats. I guess how do you go about creating a hiphop beat.

...also stubblefield or Starks.....

...do you think when your older you'll ever pull a joe morello/zoro/garibaldi and do some teaching? Or even do a dvd or are you not interested in doing that sort of education...

...wanna sell me one of your old zildjians...hey i had to ask...

I'll just say it right here, right now...

with Omar and J.P. in the mix...why Kamal? His playing seems limited.

I know y'all are a hip-hop band and all, but I think Swizz Beats might have more chops than him...just saying.

And Hub is the man...but he ain't seeing Pino.

My ideal Roots sound would be basically The Meters w/ Black Thought and ?uestloves brain guiding the flow on the side of the stage under a glass dome communicating telepathically.

But on the serious... a few:

1) Favorite movie (not the best, but your personal favorite)?

B) leFTjam.... you're put in control. Do you make a hip hop label, or do you accept submissions from all genres?

3) Kanye beat you to Jon Brion. one up him. Make the call to Brian Wilson (not a question... just a statement).

D) How much does it cost to get you to produce/appear on a track?

5) Goddard or Truffaut?

F) Kevin Smith just cast Rosario Dawson as his female lead in CLERKS 2. Thoughts?

7) Wanna score a short film? Cause I love the Philadelphia Experiment and would love something like that to lay the back drop to this killer piece I wrote (this kinda goes back to the "how much it cost to..." Q).

H) The seeions from Pet Sounds in the box set have been out for a long time now. Why has no hip hop producer taken advantage of this material?

I'm out of dumb questions... but oh... I'll be back with more.

If Train A is travelling at 40.6 miles/hr, and two hours later, Train B leaves the same station at 50.2 miles/hr, how long does it take for Train B to catch up to Train A?

(Show all working.)

Posted by h20molecule, Tue Sep-27-05 11:11 PM
40.6 miles/hour (x hours) + 40.6 miles/hour (2 hour head start) = 50.2 miles/hour (x hours)

x ~ 8.45 hours

actually it would take train B less than 8.45 hours unless train A is infintessimally small. one would have to know the length of train A to know at what point train B would collide with the back of train A...

also, how is it possible that these trains instanaeously leave the same station at a constant velocity? that is a pretty awesome feat.

45864, other d questions (sorry, but youre the only one speaking on this)
Posted by betelgeuse, Wed Sep-21-05 08:06 AM
1) are there plans for an official one song release prior to the release of the new
album? i dont mean a single, but a twelve inch for some buzz a la "devils pie"
in mid 1998.

2) and did you pitch d the idea of doing an exclusive okayplayer release of one
song? (many folks on these boards are very much in favor of this.) if so, what
was his reaction?

3) if youre allowed to say, who -besides you- have been involved in the making of
the new album thus far? is it true pino, spanky, saadiq, russ elevado and jesse
johnson have all contributed?

4) and finally, according to fire (ok) the new record is already finished. and you
recently said to have received fourteen new tracks. well, if you were to give this
album -or compilation of new songs- an *honest* rating in @s, what would it be? ■

I think out of good measures and to help increase your chances of your lil' rap group signing to DEF JAM LEFT, you should get back into Memphis' good grace by blessin' him with one of those neo-soul type drum patterns you're semi-famous for...

based on high voltage's recent live review, did you resurrect the TFA outtake that sounded like a skipping CD? originally you were going to release it on phrenology but... didn't. any chance you can call it "try ovaltine" or something as a nod to the artist Oval, whose whole steez for the last two decades has been making beats out of skipping CDs?

oh yeah and any chance you'll leak another mp3 on okayplayer like you did for the original "thought @ work"?

and what i meant before about a good STUDIO black jack johnson song is a song like "ghetto" (which they did on tour many years ago) or anything that isn't too conventional and bland like their featured tracks on 'the new danger.'

1. What would be the line-up of your ideal band with current musicians (Roots members not allowed) and you would have to play drums of course.

2. Why change to a full kit from the minimalist approach you used to have?

3. Could you work with Brian Wilson?

4. One special gig and one special recording session

5. The artist you would most like to a) drum for and b) produce

Thanks

looked like kirsty alley last year pre work out
we did shows and shows and shows and shows and shows and shows.....
and came back to the US looking like a monsterous melly mel.
that was the first night we did hip hop 101.

and the crowd was acting like it was the beatles on sullivan.

so amazing!

rza came onstage and we did Wu Tang Clan Aint Nothing To Fuck With.

pharcyde was there too (this was the night they created "runnin' with "tip's boy"...i was all dissapointed like "tip aint gonna work on this album with yall, that's fucked up!"---whew...thank god (lol)

so was skillz (did someone try to come at you yo?)

so many guests i forget.

but that show (and the next night in LA) were the TWO most important shows of our careers.

I've got 5 of your sticks and I'm always down in front. And how are the ones down front lucky? I take the necessary steps (get there mad early and stand in line) to be up front... or do you mean luck in the sense of better show up front?

45950, THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN MINUTES
Posted by , Sat Sep-24-05 12:50 PM
AS SEEN ON OPRAH!! Money Making System $$ Network Together To Make Money Fast!!

Im 19 and Im a Sophomore at College in New York. If you are in College, High School or simply someone looking for a trustworthy money making opportunity you need to do this. I have made $10,000 in about a month and I have been able to start building my home studio. I also have been coppin alot of Exclusive Air Force 1s lately. So if you need some dough, loot, money whatever you call it just read this and follow the instructions and the money will start pouring in.

I'm sure you’ve read these letters asking you to send $1 to 6 different addresses. Putting your home address on the internet can be risky, but through paypal all you have to do is provide your email address. It’s safe and easy, just go to www.paypal.com and set up your account. Be sure to set up the account that allows you to accept payments from debit and/or credit cards! I am not a gullible person and have never trusted things like this, but I gave it a try, hey its only $6, I figured at least 6 people would respond out of the millions of people that use the internet. You should give it a try too! You have nothing to lose, and thousands to gain! Read on for the letter that I found ...
$$ HOW TO TURN $6 INTO $6,000+!!! THIS REALLY CAN MAKE YOU EASY MONEY!! IT WORKS!!! BUT YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW IT TO THE LETTER FOR IT TO WORK!!!! $$

A little while back, I was browsing through newsgroup, just like you are now and came across an article similar to this that said you could make thousands dollars within weeks with only an initial investment of $6.00! So I thought, "Yeah, right, this must be a scam", but like most of us, I was curious, so I kept reading. Anyway, it said that you send $1.00 though paypal to each of the emails stated in the article. You then place your own email address in the bottom of the list at #6, and post the article in at least 200 news groups. (There are thousands) No catch that was it. So after thinking it over, and talking to a few of my classmates, I decided to try it. I figured what have I got to lose except $6.00, right? Like most of us I was a little skeptical and a little worried about the legal aspects of it. It follows the same regulations as the "mailed chain letters, which according to the U.S. Post Office (1-800-725-2161) is indeed legal! Then I invested the measly $6.00. Well GUESS WHAT!!? Within 7 days, I started recieving money in my paypal account! I was shocked! I figured it would end soon, but the money just kept coming in. In my first week, I made about $20.00. By the end of the second week I had made a total of over $1,200.00!!! In the third week I had over $10,000.00 and it's still growing. This is now my fourth week and I have made a total of just over $36,000.00 and it's still coming in rapidly. It's Certainly worth $6.00. You spend more than that for a "Value" Meal at a fast food spot. Let me tell you how this works and most importantly, why it works? Also, make sure you print a copy of this article NOW, so you can get the information off of it as you need it.

$$ REQUIREMENTS: You must have a verified paypal account. If you do not have an account you can go to www.paypal.com and follow the instructions to set up a free account. In order to place the initial $6 into your account, you will have to verify your bank account with paypal (which may take a few days). Paypal is 100% secure and is used by millions of people world wide.

STEP 1: Send, through paypal, $1.00 to each email on the below list. Make the subject of the payment "Email List" and in the comments, write "PLEASE PUT ME ON YOUR EMAIL LIST." What you are doing is creating a service by this and best of all you are not giving your address to anyone you do not know ... THIS IS ABSOLUTELY LEGAL! The email list:

#1) mjd@dsl.pipex.com
#2) punkska68@hotmail.com
#3) invest@caramail.com
#4) chiprideandjoy@aol.com
#5) treyr21@yahoo.com
#6) selfceomade@yahoo.com

STEP 2: Now take the #1 email off the list that you see above, move the other addresses up (6 becomes 5, 5 becomes 4, etc) and add YOUR email address (the one used on the paypal account) as number 6 on the list.

STEP 3: Change anything you need to, but try to keep this article as close to original as possible. Now, post your amended article to at least 200 newsgroups, message board. (I think there are close to 32,000 groups) All you need is 200, but remember, the more you post, the more money you make - as well as everyone else on the list!

$$ DIRECTIONS $$ HOW TO POST TO NEWSGROUPS + MESSAGE BOARDS $$

Step #1) You do not need to re-type this entire letter to do your own posting. Simply put your CURSOR at the beginning of this letter and drag your CURSOR to the bottom of this document, and select 'copy' from the edit menu. This will copy the entire letter into the computer memory.

Step #2) Open a blank 'notepad' file and place your cursor at the top of the blank page. From the 'edit' menu select 'paste'. This will paste a copy of the letter into notepad so that you can add your name to the list.

Steps #3) save your new notepad file as a .txt file. If you want to do your postings in different sittings, you'll always have this file to go back to.

Step #4) Use Netscape or Internet Explorer and try searching for various newsgroups, on-line forums, message boards, bulletin boards, chat sites, discussions, discussion groups, online communities, etc. For example: you log on to any search engine like yahoo.com, google.com, altavista.com, excite.com then you search with subject like ?millionaire message board? or ?money making message board? or ?employment message board? or ?money making discussions? or ?money making forum? or ?business message board? etc. You will find thousands & thousands of message boards. Click them one by one then you will find the option to post a new message.

Step #5) Visit these message boards and post this article as a new message by highlighting the text of this letter and selecting paste from the Edit menu. Fill in the Subject, this will be the header that everyone sees as they scroll thru the list of postings in a particular group, click the post message button. You're done with your first one! Congratulations? THAT'S IT!! All you have to do is jump to different newsgroups and post away, after you get the hang of it, it will take about 30 seconds for each newsgroup!

$$ REMEMBER, THE MORE NEWSGROUPS AND/OR MESSAGE BOARDS YOU POST IN, THE MORE MONEY YOU WILL MAKE!! BUT YOU HAVE TO POST A MINIMUM OF 200** That's it! You will begin receiving money within days! $$

$$ JUST MAKE SURE THE EMAIL YOU SUPPLY IS EXACTLY AS IT APPEARS ON PAYPAL. $$ Now the WHY part: Out of 200 postings, say I receive only 5 replies (minimum). So then I make $5.00 with my name at #6 on the letter. Now, each of the 5 persons who just sent me $1.00 make the MINIMUM 200 postings, each with my name at #5 and only 5 persons respond to each of the original 5, that is another $25.00 for me, now those 25 each make 200 MINIMUM posts with my name at #4 and only 5 replies each, I will bring in an additional $125.00! Now, those 125 persons turn around and post the MINIMUM 200 with my name at #3 and only receive 5 replies each, I will make an additional $625.00! OK, now here is the fun part, each of those 625 persons post a MINIMUM 200 letters with my name at #2 and they only receive 5 replies that just made me $3,125.00!!! Those 3,125 persons will all deliver this message to 200 newsgroups with my name at #1 and if still 5 persons per 200 newsgroups react I will receive $15,625.00! With an original investment of only $6.00!

A - M - A - Z - I - N - G - $$

$$ When your name is no longer on the list, you just take the latest posting in the newsgroups, and send out another $6.00 to names on the list, putting your name at number 6 again. And start posting again. The thing to remember is, do you realize that thousands of people all over the world are joining the internet and reading these articles everyday, JUST LIKE YOU are now!! So can you afford $6?? And see if it really works?? I think so? People have said, what if the plan is played out and no one sends you the money? So what are the chances of that happening when there are tons of new honest users and new honest people who are joining the internet and newsgroups everyday and are willing to give it a try? Estimates are at 20,000 to 50,000 new users, every day, with thousands of those joining the actual Internet.

Remember, play FAIRLY and HONESTLY and this will work. Seriously, most people think this is a scam, but you actually do get thousands of dollars out of it, it is NOT another crazy stupid scam, if people follow through with sending out $6, it works!!!!!

$$ REMEMBER, IT IS 100% LEGAL! DON'T PASS THIS UP! $$

Look at what PayPal had to say about it! (or ask them for yourself)

Dear ************

Thank you for contacting PayPal. We apologize for the delay in responding to your service request.

It has come to our attention that there is a PayPal scheme floating around at the moment you may have heard or seen the $5 scheme. You may have even taken part in it well we have been asked a lot of questions about this scheme the answer is yes it does work and yes it is safe to use providing you follow the rules it is legal and has made a big hit on the internet this year.

Thank you for using PayPal! Sincerely, PayPal Community Support.

There's no use trying to cheat for only $6.00 ***

$$ Have fun! $$

okay 3 easy questions
1) in terms of production/beat making me and a friend had a discussion about beats with a drummers frame of mind (realistic hi hat patterns etc etc)
versus beats that are pretty much unrealistic to recreate live. ie ricky-ticky hi hats, too many kicks. which type do you appreciate and or like to recreate?

2) do you feel that spending alot on production is relatively worth it in making an album that might not even break gold?

3) 3 MAINSTREAM successful artists or producers you HAVENT had an a album or have worked with that you would want on your next album and why?

thanx in advance.

4. top 3 favorite books of all time?

5. legendary in africa - why doesn't this happen more often? what would it take to have y'all do a tour of the continent?

you said "there is none" about south florida venues

but you didn't say what you thought of "Revolution", which you did June '05... its a HOB type venue with both indoor and outdoor stages

What did you think of it? Is it HOB-like enough that you guys may hit it up regularly?
45974, how come the US version didn't get melting pot? and where can i find it?

Thanks for Taking the time to do this post quest....

1. Where do like to eat while in LA?

2. What is your publishing deal like? Is it up soon? (if you don't mind me asking)

3. what is your dj'ing set up? vinyl and/or cd tables? what type?

Saw you guys play in the Duke U quad back in like 94, haven't turned back since!
45976, a whole BUNCH of questions
Posted by spirit, Thu Sep-29-05 01:02 AM
1. any outtake extras on 'introducing the roots'? (still clamoring for some official release of 'quicksand millenium', which may have come out while i wasn't paying attention?)

2. who to contact for featured artist info? to get you or thought to host a roots 'best of...' mix cd? to buy a thought verse?

3. why have you done more solo production work? your name is ringing bells to the point where 'produced by questlove' has some weight.

4. ever uncomfortable with the fact that you seem to be becoming (always were?) the most visible member of the roots crew? the afro helps, but so does the fact that you seem to be the most quoted in interviews.

5. any possibility of a rappages-like questo column in interscope magaz...er...xxl? or another mag? a questo book on hip-hop history? maybe angled towards the history of hip-hop production? in fact, a column in 'scratch' would be bananas.

6. anyone still call you b.r.o.the.r question? and what is the origin of the name? i'm betting you thought of the name first and made up the acronym later. b/c beat recycler of the rhythm question doesn't make much sense to me (why the 'question' part? is it a question whether you can recycle beats? lol....jokes). and do you remember what black moon stands for? brothers lyrically a___ c___ kicking m___ o___ over nations?

7. need an entertainment attorney? ha-ha.

What is your favorite Colorado venue? You played everywhere here from Red Rocks to the Fox in Boulder to the Fillmore in Denver...

Did Jay-Z ever say anything to you about the imagery in the "What They Do" video? Or ever tell you what Biggie thought about it at he time it dropped?

How come Paula W won't let me talk to you?
