I mean..I dont know the details. Dont care about the details cuz nothing could make me feel okay about it. I keep going to his myspace page and just staring at it. Wishing that it was some kinda way he could see how many people loved him. And me being way over here makes it even harder, cuz all I can do is sit here and try to get some work done. It just makes me wonder about some things, your family, your life, your loved ones. Niggas say real good shit about you when you leave but never say it while you here. If you feel a certain way about someone tell em...make sure they know. Why niggas gotta be prisoners of thier own success? Why niggas feel like taking a life is cool? What kinda glory is in that? The hardest hard nigga is a different dude when his family and children are question. I just dont know anymore..I can think of a couple people I'd leave this earth for ..but hip hop( not sayin that was the case..but you know how the media is) Fuck Hip Hop...I love it but I aint dying for it. 8 words been going thru my mind all fuckin day...it's gotta be a better way to die.

You know, I used to really hate on that cat. I felt personally like SV and them weren't gettin' enough shine for puttin out quality work, and that D12 and them were getting too much for basically NOTHING. I even looked for subliminal disses in the records and all that. It was recently brought to my attention that this cat and Dilla used to get DOWN and that the Ephcy (FC) stood for 'Funky Cowboy' or something; that they had a long-standing history. I'm glad I let that $hit go. I guess we all got our wayz of contributing to this culture or whatever.

This is very sad. I just hate to see this kinda stuff continue. Today I was on ALLHipHop.com where i found this terrible news out and I went over to their music page where I came across a Styles P & Jadakiss song. It was a "diss" track at 50 cent and it made me think this shit just keeps on going....The song talks about killing 50 and basically is a threat. Now I'm no fan of 50 cent and honestly I think his music sucks but I don't want to see him dead. It's sad how people are out their killing themselves everyday over nothing....Proof got killed, but why? I'm sick of seeing these rappers putting so much energy, time, and money into this silly beef shit. If they wanna battle so damn bad then go battle this government and use all that money and power they have towards feeding starving kids around the world or sumthin. Why sit in a recording studio all day making songs about killing each other? All this "beef", gangs, black on black crime, etc are in the words of the Roots "P*ssy Galore"...I mean I understand people don't always do crime cuz they wanna but cuz they have too...but does killing somebody fix anything? Whether this murder was beef related or not it still shows how these fools keep fighting themselves instead of fighting the opressors... These murders, diss tracks, daily news stories, etc make me wanna scream cuz they seem to often involve talented people who waste it all over nothing. Proof is another victim to senseless violence. That's really ashame. How many people have to die before we realize that this is stupid? This should be yet another wake up call to the Hip-Hop community. Let Proof be remembered but also and example of how we need to change this nonsense.

I'm saddened to hear that yet another rapper has passed way before their time. For the record, I always thought he was the real heart and soul of D12. Regardless though, I'm heartbroken to hear that he's passed on and even more so that his death will just be another statistic to the Detroit police. Losing Dilla to a disease is one thing but losing anyone like this is something else.

Rappers need to take an account of what they say, coz their pollution on the airwaves are manifesting into reality, and it seems to have reversed from an art imitating life into a cycle of life imitating art (the commercial part of it anyway). Hip-hop needs to go back to setting higher examples of what we as a generation need to strive for.

Because as Saul Williams said in his new book "The Dead Emcee Scrolls: The Lost Teachings of Hip-Hop" ....

"It seems that hip-hop is in the midst of either re-learning or forgetting lessons that have already been taught.

My prayers go out to D12 and Proof's family and friends, may he rest in peace.

DETROIT, Michigan (AP) -- A man turned himself over to police Wednesday for questioning in the death of rapper Proof during a nightclub shootout, authorities said.

Police also said Wednesday it was Proof who fired the first bullet in the gunfire that ended his life a day earlier.

The bullet hit Keith Bender in the head, critically injuring him, at the CCC, a nightclub in a strip of businesses along Eight Mile Road. The road was made famous in the 2002 film starring Proof's close friend, rap superstar Eminem.

Mario Etheridge, 28, Bender's cousin and a bouncer at the club, met with police Wednesday, the Detroit Free Press reported.

"He came in because the Detroit Police Department asked him to," Etheridge's attorney, Randall Upshaw, told television station WXYZ. "Does that sound like a murderer?"

Upshaw would not say whether his client shot Proof but said whoever did acted in self-defense.

Investigators believe Proof was shot after he pistol-whipped and shot Bender following a fight at the club around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday -- more than two hours after the nightclub was required to close for the night.

"The understanding of every witness we've spoken to is that Proof pulled out a weapon," Upshaw said. "Proof shot Keith in the face and Keith was unarmed."

If Proof was shot by someone trying to protect himself or another, the shooter will not be charged, police Sgt. Eren Stephens said.

Proof, 32, whose real name was Deshaun Holton, was taken to a nearby outpatient treatment center by private car, where he was pronounced dead. He was shot three times in the head and chest, according to the Wayne County medical examiner's office.

Bender was taken by a private car to St. John Hospital, where he remained in critical condition early Thursday, spokeswoman Wende Berry said.

Proof was a member of the rap group D12 and was the best man in Eminem's January wedding. Seldom was Eminem seen in public without him.

Ahh finally a chance to prove my point that walking around with a gun makes you more likely to get killed by one. Guns are really f*cking stupid and it's time that people learn how to fight or sumthin cuz guns seem more lethal and people just whip em out without thinking and blast each other to damn quick. Learn some martial arts people and stop killing yourselves. Not saying guns should be illegal but they seem more likely to get you killed than defended. People say "Oh I need a gun to protect myself from the government".....well in this day and age it's not gonna do you any good cuz they have nuclear weapons and tanks. Guns are so destructive....when will the world learn?

>Having a gun means you'll get killed by one? How so? In
>todays world your damned if you do and your damned if you

I think this event could have and should have been avoided simply by not having a gun(s). I think all the fools who started this ignorant black on black crime/common man vs common man would still be alive if they hadn't been carrying guns. People become irrational when angry and guns kill within seconds. Gun + Irrattional thinking/anger = Quick/avoidable death. People use guns without thinking at all. People have got to stop killing each other and stop carrying guns around. We need to work together and fight the oppressor who gives us the guns. Guns are just a tool to keep people killing each other...that's why train cars and vans full of guns end up in the projects everyday..TO ENCOURAGE POINTLESS VIOLENCE!!! I'm so sick of seeing idiots kill each other over bullshit. Their is no reason to kill people! Then I'm suppossed to cry when crazy people do crazy things and end up dead?? This is like when those nascar drivers get killed during a nascar race. They died because they engaged in stupid dangerous activity. Therefore I am sorry they died but at the same time it doesn't come as a surprise or shock. They could have easily avoided it by not doing crazy shit. the guns killed Proof and he is to blame too because he had one. People aren't responsible and guns are dnagerous...the combination of the two flirts with death. You say oh well they should have been more responsible but I think that when people are angry they dont act responsible or reasonable therefore the gun elevates the situation. This is my opinion and feel free to disagree. Sorry that he died. I just think this was avoidable....how many people have to die from guns before we realize that they cause more harm then they solve??
