44625, "My favorite mutiny"- Coup/BT/Talib
Posted by Origin05, Thu Apr-27-06 11:34 AM

Anyone else loving this track?
Aside from the lyricism being tight on the song and the beat knocking just right it has both Thought and Talib.

Lovin' this album.

The album is real nice. Mutiny reminds me of Guerilla Monsoon Rap on Kweli's Quality album.

I feel you, but this is another level... It's damn near impossible to describe how Boots ate this song up.
44630, Boots ate both of em for breakfast on the track.

44633, DEATH TO THE PIGS....
Posted by Pinko_Panther, Thu Apr-27-06 07:47 PM
...is my basic statement/
I spit street stories til I taste the pavement/
Tryin' to stay out the penn where we face enslavement/
Had a full-proof hustle til they traced the payments/
I was grippin' my palm around some shitty rum/
Tryna find some number one fifty one/
To forget what I'm owed, as a clutch the commode/
Its time to put down the bottle and come get the gun/
Lets get off the chain like Kunta Kente with a Mack 10/
They want us gone like a dollar in crack den/
Steadily substractin' seeds and stems/
Mind clouded from the weez and phlegm/
Now take my brain off of that and the jesus hymns/
If we waitin for the time to fight these is thems/
They tellin' us to relax, while they ease it in/
We gettin greased again/
The truth I write is so cold it'll freeze my pen/
I'm Boots Riley its a pleasure to meet you/
Never let they punk asses ever defeat you/
They got us on the corner wearing pleather and see through/
All yalls are gold mines and they wanna deplete you/
I ain't just finna rap on a track/
I'm here to clap on them back/
And its been stackin' to that/
500 years before Iceberg ever leaned back in a 'Lac/
Before they told Rosa 'black in the back'/
Before the CIA told Ricky Ross to put crack in the sack/
Til' Gil Scott traded rappin' for smack/
This be the launch of your platinum plaques/
I'd rather see a million of extatic to scrap/
Cuz if we smackin' em back/
We're automatically stacked.

^^^Its a killer verse. One of the best in years.

What's most impressive is that Kweli had a strong verse and Thought had a killer verse... and Boots still killed both of them. Just a hell of a song I've been bumpin for months, and the great thing is the rest of the album stacks up as well.

that's what I was gonna say..
it's not often that BT gets topped on a track...
but Boots definately delivers one of the best verses i've ever heard right there..

Sealed it as a nice verse for me.
44637, Verse correction!!

I just read it again in the liner notes and I got some of that part wrong. Here's how it goes (its even better now):

500 years befo' Iceberg ever leaned back in a 'lac/
Befo' they told Rosa "Black in the back"/
Befo' the CIA told Ricky Ross to put crack in a sack/
And Gil Scott traded rappin' for smack/
This beat alone should get platinum plagues/
I'd rather see a million of ecstatic to scrap/
Cuz if we bappin' 'em back/
We automatically stack...

the beat alone is worth puttin this track on replay for hours but with kweli and black on it they completely destroy this song
