I was feeling Right About Now and a lot of Beautiful Struggle, but YO! Kweli definately is aiming to silence the haters with this first single!
The most common knock I've heard about Kweli was "If he had better production behind him.." or "He doesn't have a good ear for beats" Well it looks like thats changing, what will the haters say now?

Kweli maybe can earn back some respect from me if he keeps bringing efforts like these, nice tempo, the sample is creative and just plain sick...the hook is simple on straight for shit! I've listened to this three times in a row and this is probably the first song that Kwe has dropped in minute that I've really felt...It's definitely a good look...

this is so good..im pumped to see how the video turns out.

The beat is pretty bland. As an album intro (a'la "Rush") this will work, but as a single? Nope, won't get any spins. Lyrically, this doesn't do much for me, but, like I said, it should have it's place on the begining of the album to set the mood. Just my two cents.

i think the song is tight. he gonna get spins in my itunes that's all i know. hook's kinda catchy, mostly it's the sample that's catchy. looks like he's stayin on that right about now path with the hot beats. he's definitely got a good ear for beats, it was just a matter of writin the right songs. i'm listenin kweli. since 2000 my nig.

Before you used to bitch and blame the "negativity" from people's comments on some of your newer stuff on their wanting you to be the same Kweli from Eternal or Black Star, which was a bunch of bullsh*t; the stuff people were being "negative" about just wasn't that good. Sorry to break the news. Look at Erykah Badu for example: Mama's Gun was different than Baduizm/Live but the music and vocals on Mama's Gun was so damn exceptional, and you didn't hear anybody being so-called negative about it because it wasn't like On & On or Tyrone. You know why? Cause that shit was good. (Erykah, you so fly.)

The moral of the story, Kweli, is: Keep making good records with good production and lyrics and delivery--no matter how different it is from your old stuff--and you will get positive feedback. Accordingly, "Listen" is good, man.
