big daddy kane albums, any suggestions?

the break dance at the end, was that a reference to something? like, did bdk used to do that back in the day? I'm a newbie and all this old skool praise goes way over my head. ?uest killed it, by the way.

Never seen this video yet!! & my job blocks YouTube!! But yeah, Kane was a top dog MC who had some smooth dance moves, not a style many rappers had or have

With "Warm It Up Kane" (probably his best track), "Smooth Operator", "Young, Black, & Gifted", and "Pimpin' Ain't Easy" on there?

Foolish.
42035, That's hip hop.

Everytime I see that I get goosebumps. That "Betcha Can't Do It Like Me", "Lean Wit It", "Snap Ya Fingers", "Shake Ya Laffy Taffy" BULLSHIT ain't Hip Hop. If you think that ignorant coon shit is Hip Hop, go educate yourself son.

...if only we could get our local VA(Hampton Roads) radio stations to understand this.

I'm from Virgina Beach, (I live in DC now) when I come home to visit the first thing I would want to hear was 103 Jamz. I thought 103 Jamz was the best radio station in the world. Now when I come home I rarely turn the radio on (If I do I listen to Hampton's Radio Station). I'm so disappointed in 103. I don't listen to the radio in the DC area either. It's not just the Hampton Roads area radio stations, it's all the radio station in the nation.
42038, when I moved from DC to Newport News..

I thought 103 Jamz was sooo much better than our local stations... they just changed the order up...
42039, Got tears in my eyes, throat is thick as hell...

That was beautiful!!
42040, Thanks for the post!

That was hot, ?uest kills it on the drums, and BT rolls through his part like its easy. Even Common brought the heat at the end of his part. They need more of this crossover exposure, new people need to know the roots, okay family
42041, Best thing about this vid=Diddy's entrance at the very end

42042, I'm dissappointed

I don't think TI was a good match for this. He just doesn't fit. Maybe I'm nuts. He does have BDK's appeal. His stage presence IMO sucks.

Am I the only one who thinks that Common didn't do that good a job either? It sounded like his voice was cracking and he was having trouble getting the lyrics out. That being said, sick performance, BT definitely killed it.

Tariq definetely did his thing. What a precise tribute. What the hell was T.I. doing there? Does he even know who BDK is? Common was a little weak but out of all the attempts he's made on stage, he finally executed that spin like a pro. Thanks for the clip. Wish I had cable :(
42045, cause us rocking
Posted by 15, Mon Aug-14-06 06:28 PM
aint nothing new.

and typical of most haters
kane doing that flip at the end was more
"showing them cats how its done" as opposed to
"yall rocked that shit"

it was cool but really it was bitter sweet cause every message board said the same shit "kane won"

kane did a dance move NOBODY thought he would pull off.

but Riq won that breath control contest.

i dont care what NOBODY says.
42046, RE: cause us rocking
Posted by blake33, Mon Aug-14-06 07:26 PM
how about backstage props? Any of the artists say who was best/congratulate you guys for "rocking" it?

the nigga's ill.
42049, breath control is mc shit
Posted by Iltigo, Wed Aug-16-06 09:33 AM
the average rap fans has no idea how hard it is to do what thought does

like many people continue to say (your boss included) thought is an mc's mc.

no gimmicks, just straight unadulterated skill.

only others mc's and those fans that care are impressed by dope breath control

Thought killed it! Notice he took one of the most difficult verses Kane ever spit---in 'Set it Off' & he ran through it like a drunk through a stop light....he absolutely ripped it. TI was mad corn---skippin over words and such, it ain't like 'smooth operator' has the pace 'set it off' or 'raw' has & he couldn't get through it correct. Seein' Kane, Scoob & Scrap bust out the signature joint at the end was hot too. This vid. shows why the Roots crew continue to show themselves the class of this hip hop game....

anyone heard the roots do "ain't no halfsteppin" anytime recently. i love when they do that song.
42052, well...
Posted by julio14, Wed Aug-16-06 12:54 AM
it's impossible to watch that and not recognize that thought and the rest of the crew did their thing. but, fuck it, it was a kane tribute so let him shine.

I'm sorry, I love Kane, but Thought rocked that ish!!!

Thanks for posting that, I was mad when I didn't save that on my DVR.
42054, wake-up call
Posted by Vic Grymes, Wed Aug-16-06 12:28 PM
In my opinion, T.I. obviously had no business with that line-up. hopefully that was a smack in the face to let him know he cant hang with real MCs. They had to give him a slower song cuz he probably woudnt rock the crowd with any other one... not that he did with smooth operato either. Comm and BT killed it like always and was pretty impressed with Kane still being able to move like that. Thanx for the post
42055, RE: wake-up call
Posted by excaluber, Thu Aug-17-06 12:54 AM
I agree, that was a pretty weak az performance by T.I.

Thought asbsolutely tore it up, he was a freaking beast. I gotta say ?uesto is right, BT killed everyone on projection and breath control (As he almost always does.)

Its crazy to me how well 'riq projects compared to most MC's...you can't even understand what 1/2 the rappers are saying at most concerts cause either they're yelling, or their croonies are...'riq should teach a class or some shit.
42056, Still gives me chills a year later.
