i think tvotr and beck should be switched, if anything, but overall that list is solid. i'm glad he's heard of joanna newsom, too. her voice is crazy, and that album's wayyyy worthy of recognition.

i'm shocked to see the Clipse on there. it was a tremendous amount of "press" hype surrounding that album it wasn't even better the Lord Willin' imo. Does Alice Smith's album make anyones top ten list of 06'?

good list, this is just a shot, but what do you think of both Count Bass D "Act Your Waist Size" and Soul Position "Things Go Better With RJ and AL". They are both top 10, hip hop at least....

I was reading Scratch magazine at Borders the other day, i noticed Diddy said in an interview that ?uesto said that his album may be one of the "albums of the year". I'm glad he was just saying that to be nice.

I've never posted before, but quest naming the winehouse album as the second best of the year got me so hot and bothered I decided to loose my okay v-card. What an insanely good album, one of my favorites! Quest, get that girl on tour with you guys.

Looks like a pretty good list, I agree with everything (except the stuff I haven't heard, so I don't know but I trust ?L) and except Ghostface. Well, I don't disagree, but I've always wondered what his appeal was other than being from the one of the illest rap groups of the 90s. I like some stuff but what makes him so preeminent...well, ninth to preeminent...well, ninth to preeminent this year?

Dilla Donuts is easily the best album of 2006.

but my question is: why no love for Madlib?

i thought Beat Konducta was probably the 2nd or 3rd best
hip-hop record of '06 (this is what its come to. only
beatsmiths can keep things interesting). anyway,
Donuts and Beat Konducta compliment each other
nicely, especially knowing the duo were a group,
its like they are in producer dialogue. i think Beat
Konducta was slept on.

as far as '06 hip-hop records i think it goes

3. Madlib - Beat Konducta 1 & 2

(tv on the radio was the best non-rap record by far,
