37150, does Interscope care about the 'Out Of My Mind' leaks?
Posted by howisya, Tue May-29-07 10:16 AM
considering they almost certainly shelved it and had no intentions of releasing it. i'm curious if they've expressed any concerns over the relatively high profile leaking of the tracks. also i wonder what Pharrell's take is, i imagine it's a positive one.
37151, didn't pharrell pay for this redux w/o interscope's knowing/approval?
Posted by betelgeuse, Tue May-29-07 10:23 AM
i'm more curious about what his thoughts are on the leak?

probably positive ones, cause it's more/good publicity for pharrell.
37152, at the same time though
Posted by howisya, Tue May-29-07 10:37 AM
it kind of exposes 'IMM' for the amateur effort that it was...
37153, yea Pharrahell paid for this out of his pocket
Posted by Menphyel7, Tue May-29-07 11:11 AM
so they really can't have too much say in the matter.
37154, they do own the vocal tracks though
Posted by howisya, Tue May-29-07 12:18 PM
since he didn't resing the vocals
37155, well since he ain't SOLD this anywhere I"m sure its nothing more
Posted by Menphyel7, Fri Jun-01-07 12:44 PM
than remixes I'm sure it won't be some action taken for remixes. it acutally is bringing more atteniton to Pharrel.
37156, long as

yall stay cool and not snitch
37157, you don't think anyone there knows about this?
Posted by betelgeuse, Wed May-30-07 10:32 AM
wasn't it already on mtv news or something?
37158, that's what i'm saying...
Posted by howisya, Wed May-30-07 10:49 AM
i hate to point out the obvious, ?uest, but look at how much traffic your message boards and myspace page bring in, plus you had an mtv story. interscope must know, i was just wondering if you heard anything.
37159, i think you underestimate your site
Posted by HighVoltage, Wed May-30-07 09:58 PM
i heard one of the tracks at a club other night.

other sites are onto it as well.

i dont think this is just an "okayplayer thing". it may start here, but it spreads around fast.
37160, im not underestimating
Posted by 15, Thu May-31-07 11:08 AM
im mean yall gonna do what yall gonna do.
i put them jawns up for yall to listen to.
but i know yall gonna do what yall gonna do
but there is a way to code some shit and STILL GET TREATS
yall get some shit and be like NEW D'ANGELO SONG RIGHT HERE!!!! RIGHT HERE!!!!!!!
and THAT is when the turmoil starts. (and yes...d and i are about as Cain and Able as can be right now cause of that leak)---i know you're like "well you played it on the air"....but there are things that are ABOVE the radar....and things that are below the radar--i just think there was a better way to handle that treat then "HEY GUYS OVER HERE!!!!!!!"

once i see yall can learn how to network treats and KEEP that shit inside the community

THEN yall will really get treats.

cause all that shit is bottom of the barrel
37161, i think we all understand that
Posted by HighVoltage, Thu May-31-07 11:30 AM
but im saying once its out there... its out there.

whether its "HEY LOOK HERE!!" or "psstt... check this out"

its still gonna spread like wildfire once it leaves this community at the same rate.

not trying to discourage you from giving us treats obviously, but i think the end result is still going to be the same, just may not be as easy to track back to okayplayer.
37162, n/m

.
37163, so basically as Biggie you saying
Posted by qoolquest, Fri Jun-01-07 09:22 AM
"i dont wanna sell to pregnant mothers....
but since they gonna get it elsewhere they might as well get it from me"?
37164, if you're referring to me specifically, you're offbase with that
Posted by HighVoltage, Fri Jun-01-07 06:18 PM
>"i dont wanna sell to pregnant mothers....
>but since they gonna get it elsewhere they might as well get
>it from me"?

i posted that d'angelo song pretty lowkey, just saying "new dangelo (not a prank)" as the title of the post.

im not the one who anchored it in the lesson and then created 10 other spin off posts scattered over this forum saying OMG OMG NEW DANGELO!!!!!.

but i digress, my point is the end result is going to be the same regardless. technology is a bitch that way, haha.
37165, well he could do the inbox thing
Posted by Menphyel7, Fri Jun-01-07 12:42 PM
choose 20 people or whatever people give them a treat......then if nothing gets out we can start a secert inbox thing.

but yea posted it on myspace and okp anyone can get it just by viewing the pages.

I mena its people on sites who have the mp3 ready of every song right when quest posted it and tis not from this site they Pharrel fans more than Quest.
37166, exactly.. you dont think the folks at hiphopgame or spinemag, etc.
Posted by HighVoltage, Fri Jun-01-07 06:22 PM
arent lurking on here or on myspace?

i understand what quest is trying to accomplish, and im all for it... but realistically, in this day and age, i dont see that working, even if all the okps comply because myspace is mammoth and other sites lurk here.

inbox or some secret handshake type shit is the only way that would work imo
37167, ^^^ yep
Posted by betelgeuse, Sat Jun-02-07 05:33 AM
>inbox or some secret handshake type shit is the only way that
>would work imo

only way to spread real treats and not make it a public affair. but it's not like this isn't happening already.

so i'm hoping quest will start inboxing a few okp's to share these treats he's been talking about. it'll definitely be appreciated. i'm sure folks can be discrete about it.
37168, Last thing we need is the music/hip-hop police

I feel you on the low-key business. It's good for fans to hear some unreleased/special material...exciting and all...but sites in general should try to keep thangs on the DL Hughley. Draws less attention.
37169, we need an okp skull & bones society...
Posted by rons1ne, Thu May-31-07 03:32 PM
or some illuminati shit

tri-lateral commission type shit

council on foriegn relations type shit

bilderberg type of shit.

basically, we need a freemason okp type shit.

37170, there's no respect anymore.
Posted by sweeneykovar, Fri Jun-01-07 02:11 PM
people are stupid.
37171, it's all about "code"
Posted by Black N Proud, Sat Jun-02-07 03:36 AM
i understand/respect and see your point
the key is keeping the code of not talking, and keeping the TREATS within the "family"

my question now is, has D' NOW scrapped Really Love?

37172, i recommend inboxing treats directly. or a listserv

come on now, he leaks that shit for a reason.

he just likes to pretend it's all very hush-hush..
makes folks appreciated it even more.

lol
37174, actually no
Posted by 15, Fri Jun-01-07 03:03 PM
the station in australia was so low rent i swore they didn't have web stream.
and at the most i expected shit to be low on the radar.
i mean...my prom photo is up here but you dont see that shit all up
in vibe magazine
nor the other d treats that been going up
i expect yall to keep family shit in the family
but again

yall gonna do what yall gonna do
and from the way mofos treated this scenario
i now know that this place aint the spot to be dropping treats like that.

i got maybe a handful of cats ive given treats to and they maintained the trust factor.

but you're wrong
37175, the dangelo shit was special cuz he hasnt released a song in like 10 years.
Posted by , Sat Jun-02-07 12:03 AM
37176, yea and it sounded like a real new song
Posted by Menphyel7, Sat Jun-02-07 12:30 PM
the other stuff that okp's and you have given out with D sounded like outakes and studio jammin but that shit acutally sounded like a song D'angelo would release lol.
37177, i was actually talking about the pharrell jawns

37178, RE: does Interscope care about the 'Out Of My Mind' leaks?
Posted by PeteTheBarber, Wed May-30-07 09:35 PM
so far, it's been positive promotion for pharrell, to a specific, measurable, niche ("specialized, or specific group in the marketplace" for those of you who arent marketing dropouts) that has cost them no additional money, time, etc. as well as helping the ARTIST EXPRESS HIMSELF clearer. and it allows direct feedback from the target audience (although we are a very small portion of that target audience) as to what is liked/disliked, or

maybe i'm craaaaazzzzy
and just trying to justify getting good music

in regards to ?uest's comments and what others are saying....in a nutshell...same as when....you find a 20 dollar bill on the floor with a few people around...you can either put in your pocket and go on your merry way..or start asking each person around you if they dropped a 20 and become a sucker. its all technicalities just like "law"..you can sugar coat and cut any corner if you try hard enough.
all in all these tracks are up for listening pleasure if someone does something illegal with them, it's on them.
i own a 1987 apple with a black screen and green font..and have no type of ripping software so keep em coming.......................................................
thanks ?uest, latest with Adam is fiyah.
