Hey you guys, we are going to have a show this summer and are trying to raise funds to put together this show. We invite everyone to join us for the reception in August, and any contribution you give will be greatly appreciated. Our show will be held at St. Elmo Village , a non-for-profit organization.
Our proposal is listed below. All sponsors will be listed on our program. If you would like to help sponsor our event, please inbox either donwill or myself.

thanks.

The foundation of Art is not the gallery. To us, the fundamental institution of Art is not the museum either. The essence of artwork is show and tell – the conversations between artists and community: that grandmother who puts your sketches on her refrigerator, the person who used to draw ceaselessly but hasn’t picked up a pencil in years, and the kids we used to be, looking for every opportunity to build and share our skills. Our proposed exhibition, Show and Tell, will be just that, a forum for dialogue, an opportunity to get and give feedback, and a chance to establish the types of relationships that benefit everyone involved.

One of the biggest reasons for the show is that we want to have those types of conversations with everyone we haven’t met yet. We plan to do that in the following ways: First, we’d exhibit our work with an expressed call for feedback. Secondly, we would invite anyone interested to bring samples of their own work – sketchbooks, photographs, paintings – as sort of an open forum for visual art. Lastly, on Saturdays, we would schedule participatory performances, including, but not limited to a tap performance by "Bring in' da NOISE, Bring in' da FUNK" dancer Jason Samuels Smith and live musicians.

We have a thorough advertising plan that includes: Postcards and Flyers- Postcards will be designed for free by Frankie Miller Jr. of www.ohsonappy.com. The cards will be printed by www.modernpostcards.com. We will print 1000 cards, mailing 500 to our respective mailing lists and distributing the rest. Postcards will be distributed at retail stores, secondary schools, colleges and universities, and beauty salons and barbershops.

When we read the St. Elmo Village mission statement, that its purpose was to “nurture the positive aspects life, directing youth to pursue achievable goals and inspire adults to rediscover the creative spirit,” we felt that our parallel goals would make it the perfect place for an event like Show and Tell.

St. Elmo Village
Our Mission Statement
St. Elmo Village, is where we live - a place where people can meet as people first, to share those feelings, those things one wishes to share without dictation. Working together in a place like the Village, we are reminded of the things that we have in common rather than those that separate us.

The philosophy of St. Elmo Village is that all people are creative and powerful in their own way. Through sharing the creative process, we encourage self-confidence and self-esteem through the arts. St. Elmo Village has been providing art workshops, festivals and numerous enhancement programs in the surrounding neighborhood and the Los Angeles community at large. The Village emphasizes pride in self as well as in our environment, which instills a desire to build up...

Purpose - Our Purpose is to provide a place for people to explore and develop their creativity. We demonstrate how to use whatever is available to enhance the artistic statement. We nurture the positive aspects of life, directing the youth to pursue achievable goals, and helping adults rediscover the creative spirit.

Goals - Our goal is to offer workshops on a daily basis, illustrating as many creative disciplines and addressing as many human concerns as possible.
