his verses lately have been real tight - im excited for it. hopefully it comes out in like may so we can play it at barbeques and in the whip and shit for the start of summer.

It's great to hear that XXL gave B.E. a classic rating. Even though I would like the album to drop in April, I know that it would be too soon for the hype to build and the album to sell. Let Com do the talk show circuit, a few musical guest performances, drop another hot single/video, get some more excellent write ups in magazines to get folks talking, then drop the album. Easily gold out the gate, and if it is truly good and easily accessible...platinum. I'm excited for Com, let's see how the publicity and marketing teams push this.

im not talkin about no single. u know how this weak ass industry is and im not hatin on common. if the roots let kanye do their beats their albums would be consider classic

Folks have always given Common love (except EC).

This album just has good timing. And Common appears to BE delivering on his promises to come 'raw' with it. He's been doing that with the lyrics most of the time, but the music has continually changed in a direction that some cats didn't dig. I was with it (LWFC = best Common album IMO), but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't amped about Common ripping asses over more raw music.

AND YES...

Kanye's involvement helps. Ye put out an album (and a gang of random songs) that reeked of an effort that is mostly lacking in 'mainstream' hiphop. Now he's working with Common, who is a far better emcee overall. Hell, he's probably the best artist overall that Kanye has worked with extensively (Consequence?). Why not be amped about that?

The album’s first single, the impenetrable inner-city anthem “The Corner,” sets up the initial statement for the man born Lonnie Rashid Lynn: He’s neither that rapper on Resurrection not the one on Electric Circus-he’s evolved into a synthesis of the two. On Be, Common plays poet and documentarian, showing us the triumphs and tragedies that occur in Ghetto, USA.
