27500, Who sings on "Sixth Sense"?
Posted by spirit, Mon Jan-31-00 08:56 PM
Simple question: who sung the hook on "Sixth Sense" ("and you know...yeah you know...").
Just curious. My guess is K-Ci.
Anyone here heard Donell Jones' "Where I Wanna Be?". Good album. I posted about it before, don't know if anyone paid attention.
Peace,
Spirit
http://amphibians.iuma.com<;/a>
http://infiniteloop.iuma.com<;/a>
DC hip-hop is on the rise...
"High grade when I create beats/if I don't get signed/I'ma be the most dope bum that ever walked the streets" -
Aychell (HL, of Khemystery)
"If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, and looks like a duck, it's probably a tool of the conspiracy" - unknown

He's down with the whole Roots, Common crew, etc. Bruh can sing.

“What are the rewards of those who tend to their God-given talents as they would have the creator tend to their spirits and daily lives? What happens when the artist becomes the conjur man? These are questions that seem to be null and void in the face of all the glitter and glamour that has dominated most successful balck artistry of recent years. We seem to be more preoccupied with cultivating our bank accounts than cultivating our crafts. Nowadays, I find my peers more inspired by an artist's business tactics than their artistry. In fact, we do not seem to mind an artistry that suffers in the face of seemingly good business. More artists yearn to own their own labels, etc. than they seem to yearn to master their crafts. No, we cannot allow any more Bessie Smiths to occur, but once an artist owns their own publishing the question then becomes, what are you going to publish?”
The VooDoo Manifesto – Saul Williams

I wanna know if Bilal is still getting jerked by his label... quite some time ago, Jaydee played us like 4 tracks he did for him and shit was bangin! He said he was getting the same treatment Esvee was, anyone know the deal? Isnt he like 18 or something? His vocals are incredible and if any of the tracks Jay did for him see the light of day, we may have another one on or hands. One song in particular was ridiculous, Jaydee said they recorded it in his crib and kid was drunk as hell and did his vocals in one take! He sounds similar to this kid from the D, Dwele. He's on some shit! Playing instruments, producing, whatever, this kid's got it! If anyone from 313 caught his little tape, they know the deal...he's about to blow!

27511, old Blackstreet sample?
Posted by allday, Tue Feb-01-00 08:09 AM
My friend said it was sampled from some old Blackstreet song, but who knows?
27512, It's not a sample

It's Bilal. If you don't live in the NYC or Philly areas you haven't had the chance to see his brother do his thing. I have no idea if he's signed or when he has something coming out, but he's down with the whole Common, Roots clique. First time I saw him was this past summer when he got up on stage with Common ay his show at Wetlands.
“What are the rewards of those who tend to their God-given talents as they would have the creator tend to their spirits and daily lives? You should check napster.com, it's kinda slow but you can find mad MP3's by Common,Roots, & many other artists. It all depends on what time you log onto their server. (I found this hot Roots remix of "Reminding me of Self") Check it out!
