26335, Hope I don't start a Common lynching

Anyway, I am
>curious Angiee, since you know him
>better than I do, are you
>upset by this?
Hey,
I felt like such a Dear Abby for a second.
Girl, aren't we all hypocrites in some way or another...and "bitch" is one of those *hot button* words, but (and I don't know why this is) not as much a hot button as "faggot" or "nigga / nigger"
I am not at all upset by Common using the word "bitch". It might upset me tomorrow, I mean a bitch is a *dog* right? Anyway, for some reason, it doesn't upset me. Maybe I haven't thought about the social implications of men calling us bitches that much. I'm usually too stuck on "nigga".
I've called women (and men) "bitches". Yikes. I mean, shit, I have.
Hmmm...I don't use "ho" too much. I hate that double standard...
But, no, Common's use of those words doesn't offend me. Because everything he spits is him. (Why do I feel weird, like I'm in a Common commercial. Like, I don't want him to see this, but I want to answer your question...)
His rhymes are his personality. Sometimes he's conscious, sometimes he's all about having fun and being a normal hormone-driven male.
What would offend me is if someone didn't put "bitch" or "ho" in their songs claiming they didn't use those words, but used them in regular conversation.
I mean, we all grow, maybe next album, he'll decide he doesn't want to use that word anymore.
What I find crazy is the number of women who actually come up on him *thanking him* for such positivity. And even in my inbox...mad e-mails "tell Common thank you for never disrespecting women in his lyrics!" but NO ONE has ever said anything about him saying "bitch".
Like, do women only listen to "Retrospect" and not the whole album?
"I hold mics while you hold spite / like a broken hearted bitch" -Common, Making a Name For Ourselves.
"Bomb like 'nam sounds, tell yo bitch to calm down" - Common
angieee ('stress)
Buy my book. You got a year to save up for it. "The Broke Diaries": Spring 2001 Random House / Villard Press.
(Yeah, yeah...Random House, I ain't joking...I'm coming LARGE!, WHAT?!!)
Hey!
