Something that broke has become quite familiar with by being at another hip-hop web site, and that is that FREE, downloadable music is about to rise to a popular apex in this country in the next two years. I think broke is pissed at the thought of what is becoming an outmoded function, which is giving money to the major record companies and their little subsidies for music. This may not be the dominant reality for music purchasing in the next five years or so...one of the CEOs at BMG recently said that the CD will die as the #1 music format in two years. <P>HOWEVER, I AGREE WITH COMMON that the downloaders of his album are not supporting him as an artist or a proponent of progressive hip hop. There is currently a rift between different segments in hip hop - artists signed with major music companies, downloaders of free music, and the execs at the companies themselves. <P>
