25074, Bootlegger & MP3s are not the Problem

The Bottom line is that 70% of Hip-hop record sales come from suburban white kids. So it's not about whether the true hip-hop heads feel the album. It's not about some cats selling a few albums on the street. The truth is if you want Multi-platinum sales then MTV has got to be pumping your sh*t. OR, white kids feel they can rebel & piss their parents off by buying some hip-hop contraband. Realistically, I think Common would have more luck if he targeted the slightly oldered Black Music listener demographic. It is the 23-37 Black working class who could push the album over the top. It seems that Com's album is appropiate for the same market that pushes artist like D'angelo, Maxwell, Lauryn Hill into platinum success. F*ck, sweating Funk Master Flex, Com needs to be trying to get on Tom Joyner so maybe some of his 5 MILLION listener's will cop LWFC.

Disclaimer: Criticism does not equate to Hating. There is a thin line between negativity and the craft of criticism and though Fans and Artist may hate critics, it is the critic who solidifies an artist's place in history. Remember, "Hating" is a term created by the untalented to defend their wackness. Love.
