Yo Com...that video was ill!! It was just a fun video. When I heard it was going to be an internet only video, I expected some low quality ish with maybe just some concert footage, but that was a good video, a complete turnaround from the 6th sense. The bright colors, everyone having fun and smiling, the amusement park, the breaking, the skaters... it all just complements the song. And was that Tek? And the diversity of the people in the video is refreshing, from the skaters to the backpackers. What's with the bouncer and the guy at the door? Other than that it's one of the best videos from Common.

You have got to put this video on TV someday, maybe let it run on the site for a couple of weeks exclusively, but you can't deprive the computer illiterate or those with slow modems (I'm at work with a T1...and I get crystal clear reception) from a ill jawn like this.

The video was ole school, straight to the point, no hoes, which is always good. Was the dude who couldn't get in supposed to represent the whack mc? Ooo, and you breakdance to? What a man....

The director of the video was Brian Meehan for Lock Down Entertainment. Common's mgr. introduced these cats to me who are known in the skater world by putting out the "Skateboarding" compilation videos under the Progression Magazine banner. Brian & crew really put their all in making this video. That one skater kid that did the "360 flip" off the 3 flights of stairs is the top guerilla street skater doin it. It was a 2 day shoot and the scenes at the Santa Monica pier were shot guerilla style and we even bribed the ferris wheel operator and hijacked the ride. By the time the police chased us off we had all the shots. Big up to Common, his mgr., & the director & crew for pulling this off. This internet-only joint is definitely an innovative move but what else would you expect? By the way, I have seen the suggestions about selling the "Heat" video on an enhanced Cd single for "the Light" but we need "The Light" to initially continue selling LWFC albums before we put a sinlge out so stay tuned.
We just wrapped the shoot for "The Light" on 121st St Uptown and it is going to look awesome.

Oh shit! I swore to God I was the only cat who remembers Black, Rock, and Ron. Them cats got mad play on Yo MTV Raps with that one video...then fell the fuck off. And that "Rhythm is the Master" video...lol. One of hip-hop's lost gems, right there. Put me in the mind of KRS' "Step Into a World" without the intensity...A much more laid-back version of that concept that included some ill skating...Definitely hot ish

Finally, four days later, my stupid connection here at work finally works....and DAMN. Those b-boys make me wish I was 8 again with that refrigerator box on the sidewalk. True I had no skills but it was still fun. lol Seriously tho...the video is really good....plus a T1 helps, I was at a friends house and all I saw were colors and heard some choppy music. But this definately needs to be released to the video stations.

well, i finally saw it...and i was pumped to see it because everybody was saying it was good on this post...i duuno if it was because i excpected it to be wonderful that it was anti-climatic for me, but it didn't really move me.

i didn't love it, i didn't hate it...actually i did like the amusement park thing, but that's becaue i like amusement parks...but i wasn't feeling the skateboarding(i guess it wasn't a huge part though) and the house party scene has been done...why couldn't common just do a video with his shirt off like d'angelo? (i'm just kiddin'!!!!):P

i really liked the first video with bilal(that one get's a ten), but this one...mmmm, on a scale from one to ten...i'd give it a six.

I am definetly enjoying the video. I am even more pleased that it is Internet ONLY. However, did you know that Peeps.com has the video and the skateboard contest and they claim they are the only on's who have it. WTF??? This is definetly an Okayplayer exclusive, isn't it?

In any case, I love the video. I think the breakdancing is phat(Get it, Com!) and I am beginning to feel the skateboarding. I used to be interested in that ish about 11 years ago. Whut, it's coming back...in Hip Hop???? Hey, it's whatevers clever!!!!
