isn't that he says anti-faggot shit. that's ok. the reason he's gonna get criticsm than any other MC who does is because of what he claims to be. the whole "if you're mad at common, but you're not boycotting eminem don't speak to me" thing is bullshit. first off, one doesn't cancel out the other. to say it does is kinda covertly oppressive. and as for eminem, he repeatdly claims to be ignorant, and his fans get off on that. even the reviewers who tirelessly dick ride him call him ignorant. the problem with common is that in his music he claims to be righteous, he claims to be "conscious", and he looks down on other people for not being conscious enough, and not being humane enough. it's a living in a glass house thing. common's shit would even be ok if he was brand nubian or x-clan, who claimed to be conscious, and as an obvious part of their religious "consciousness" hate gays. but common comes off as wanting to have it both ways. straddling the fence, if you will. and that makes him come off looking bad. his gay-bashing comes off as more of an egotistical need than anything else. which is human, of course. but when you make songs like common does, expect people to be more critical of that.
