Ah-ight. They tell me I ain't break the jawn, then I come back and ain't shit here. Had me noid.
Naw, I knew it was going down. I keep up on my reading.
Told them to tell me when it was back cuz I figured out my section. It's going to be called "the jawn". I'm going to just named "the jawn" of the week or month or whatever. It could be a girl, it could be some herb, could be an album.
Whatever is on my mind.
I might join in some of the flows on the lyrics joint. Maybe. If yall ain't widack.
I got a laptop with a swivel camera built in, so I can put up mad flicks. I gave Angieee some audio of me and Common freestyling too.
One last thing to the guy who said Backwoods make you impotent. That's not true, black.
Peace,
Black Th-it-ought

I ordered a copy of Organix 4 months ago and still have not recieved it. Could you let me know where you got your copy, or if BLACK has an extra copy, could you consider hookin' a sista' up? Please forgive my ignorance, but what in the devil is a JAWN, and whatever it is would you BLACK consider doing it at least once a week? It'll be hard for you to compete with the amount of times qool has been on the board but I think if you really wanted to you could give him a run for his money.
one love----mikaela

22071, JAWN. Black is a different person than ?uest.
Posted by guest, Sat May-29-99 07:30 PM
>Please forgive
>my ignorance, but what in the
>devil is a JAWN,
Living in Philly, I can answer that. A jawn is a mostly Philly slang word. It means "joint" or "thing". It can damn near take the place of any noun.
"Hand me that jawn over there."
"Look at that phly jawn in the red skirt"
>it is would you BLACK consider
>doing it at least once a
>week? It'll be hard for
>you to compete with the amount
>of times qool has been on
>the board but I think if
>you really wanted to you could
>give him a run for his
>money.
Black seems more introverted. Let him do his thing however he wants to bring it. Thanks for posting again, Black and letting us know what was up.
Cinsere1

There was only one copy there and I snatched it up as quick as I could. It's dope as hell and I'm enjoying it thouroghly. If you ordered your copy 4 months ago, then you should try to contact the people you bought it from before they get off with your loot. For real mami, handle that shit before it ends up being too late.

I ordered it through a music store out here Called HMV. They called me a week ago and told me that they were having problems with their distributor and re ordered it for me. Basically, what their saying is "there ain't no way I'ma get my hands on it". I need a copy and I would be willing to make a decent offer to anyone who could hook me up. (NO SEXUAL FAVORS ALLOWED: HAHA!). In all seriousness, If there's anyone who could hook me up, email me at mmilah98@hotmail.com.
peace---mikaela

I know what you are sayin girl...I ordered the first De La and Tribe from them.....no word...4 months later, I walk in...they are both on the shelves.....so I buy em...a year later....they call me to tell me my CD's are in.....Yeah..Ok.
I got my copy of Organix when it first became available on CD NOW a couple of years back....I had no problems with them and it showed up in the mail a couple weeks later...if all else fails...try CD NOW.
Good Luck,
Phil
p.s. Wasn't there An organixcd.com in the links section?

Thanks for the info Phil, I guess If I'da looked I would have been able to find that myself. Another regular poster decided to take it upon himself to get a copy to me while I wait for the one I ordered from HMV---the best part is that he didn't charge me one cent, ya gotta' love people like that. So the money that I was going to use to pay for the CD/pay the person who could get one out to me, I've decided to put to good use. The first person who responds to this thread, I'll get them any CD they want at no charge to them. It's a little thing but I'm sure that someone will appreciate it.
mikaela

For some reasons Organix is all OVER the record stores where I live, but I rarely see IHL or even DYWM..its really weird..I've seen Organix in all the major record stores in boston.

You in Chicago right? That's funny, cause I saw a copy of Organix at a Circuit City out here (Cicero Ave, out in Ford City...by Midway Airport), and it was going for...$5.00. It was the only one I saw, so I'm not sure if it was a mis-take or not. If you ever get out there, they had some older joints extremely cheap in the lil bargain bin section. If you're not in Chicago, forgive my loss of sanity.
Dr. Squeegee - A Work-In-Progress/Shambles
"Emulation is fun."

hopefully this will be a breath of fresh air, since most of you seem to live a touch closer to philly.
incredible show in helsinki on 22 april, near two hours of pure bliss. personally i was most impressed of all (and this is liking picking out one little jewel from a pile of hiphop crown jewellery) by the "lights out/everybody get down/and then slowly rise while the momentum builds" -coreography on step into the realm, definitely one of my favorite tracks on the new album.
just wanted to extend my most sincere bigass thanks to ?uestlove, bt and the whole crew for making my (and i know i speak for many many others) day, week, month, year, you name it. finland isn't exactly blessed with a constant flow of live hiphop, and to have you perform for the second time in two years felt like seeing jesus return to east-jerusalem for an encore.
any comments on what it's like to perform in europe as opposed to your average u.s. show?
and one more thing: love the 94 collaboration with mc solaar on his prose combat. any chance of seeing/hearing more franco-afro-american cooperation in the future, either with solaar or someone else? i'm also very curious to know about the general reaction to french hiphop from the whole okayplayer-family. this is directed to anyone who might care to answer, but if coolquest can find the time to briefly share his views on this, i'll be in seventh heaventh. do the names akhenaton or iam, for instance, tickle any bones?

MC Soolar is one of the best performers out there, I believe, is too bad I don't understand a word he is saying, the only languages I know are spanish and english, and in that order. As for iam, there phat as shit too, and they are probably a little better known than Soolar because they have done some tracks with the Wu. Wasn't RZA supposed to do a track in French with them. Wouldn't that be phat if BT got down in aother language in some colaboration to blow peeps off the set. French rap is probably more widely available in the states than from any other country. I also enjoy the group from Germany called Massive Toone (not sure about the spelling) they are not bad either. I tried to meet as many people from different countries and cultures and always ask them about the hiphop culture. I had a tape of Japanesse rap with wu-tang and biggie beats but i lost it somewhere, that "jawn" was phat as shit. Ohh well. The more diverse the place where you live the more you get from different people and that way you love and understand better what you have back home. As for the other roup you mention, I have never heard of. Maybe you could tell me more about them. Watch out for hiphop from Toronto, Canada. They seem to have a nice underground move.

>French rap is
>probably more widely available in the
>states than from any other country.
Not true...Other than France, the best place to get French Rap is here in Montreal. There are French rap groups sproutin like weeds here in Montreal because we are a huge french speaking population. Too bad they all try and rap like they lived in Paris.
>Watch
>out for hiphop from Toronto, Canada.
>They seem to have a nice
>underground move.
Yeah, it's pretty much starting to gain momentum in T.O. especially in the underground.
Peace,
Phil

>MC Soolar is one of the best
>performers out there, I believe, is
>too bad I don't understand a
>word he is saying
Solaar is the bomb, although I personally feel his beats have gone downhill since he - for some reason, and if somebody can shed some light into this, please do - stopped working with jimmy jay (who produced both qui seme le vent recolte le tempo and prose combat, his first two albums).
>them. Wouldn't that be phat if
>BT got down in aother language
Nah, I think it's best he sticks with the shit he knows best. But I love the collaborations over language boundaries - a combination of different artists/languages on the same track. In addition to I'm doing fine w/ solaar, another fly Roots collaboration was the one with a French group called La Releve. Someone also wrote about a collabo between Les Nubians and The Roots; and then of course there's the zap mama connection (with marie daulne on tfa's the love of my life) which i truly hope will result in more cooperation in the future.
>I tried to meet
>as many people from different countries
>and cultures and always ask them
>about the hiphop culture. I had
>a tape of Japanesse rap with
>wu-tang and biggie beats
You might find this hard to believe, but there's some interesting shit coming out of scandinavia too. Most of it is pretty underground, and sometimes it's more ridiculous than anything else. But not always. There's a swedish rapper called Petter who's not bad at all. And he's actually been played a lot on mtv up here in northern europe. Some of the Japanese rap I've heard, on DJ Krush's records for instance, sounds interesting too. It seems to me like pretty much any language can be used to make good hiphop if the rapper knows how to work the rhymes and rhythms.
>As for the
>other roup you mention, I have
>never heard of. Maybe you could
>tell me more about them.
Well I mentioned akhenaton (aka sentenza) who's really part of iam. I guess his role is a bit like that of the rza in wu-tang, he's both producer and rapper and some sort of mastermind behind everything they do. You should get your hands on the soundtrack for the movie TAXI (produced by Luc Besson) - there are a lot of marseille based artists on it and all the music is produced by iam/akhenaton. Great album.
>Watch
>out for hiphop from Toronto, Canada.
>They seem to have a nice
>underground move.
Canadian/Toronto based rap is a complete mystery to me. Can either of you recommend anything?
Act like they live in paris? That's not a compliment is it? Then again, wouldn't we all like to live in paris.
