I understand what your saying, but as far as Outkast and the Goodie Mob, I was introduced to both groups because I had friends in grad school who would bring back mixtapes/bootlegs back to from ATL, so when the first albums dropped, I bought them. Three or four albums later it's getting better.

As far as the Roots, the first record I bought was TFA. I passed up Illadelph because of MTV, which was my first exposure to the group and at the time I though it was going to be the same old hiphop and R/B for taste which did not appeal to me.

The concept of a live hiphop outfit is a risk, so I don't think that the group will fail the fan base. I am looking forward to see what they will do in the future, but right now I am still doing my Roots homework.

Like Quincy Jones says.."I've have always been into hybrids".
