Okayplayers hear me out and tell the site what you think:

What happened to the daily updates with some actual news about the Okayartists. Back in the early days of this site there was actually NEWS about what The Roots were doing. MAYBE, just maybe there was the occasional link to a boards discussion, but now the daily updates are filled with that bullshit. We can all read the boards for ourselves, we dont need links to ten meaningless threads each day.

I come to the site to see what the okayartists are up to, where they will be touring, what projects they are working on, what they are doing etc etc. Please try and incorporate more news and less links to the discussion board. I enjoy the daily picture but ENOUGH with the links to the board. It has been over two weeks since there was any real roots news at all, and all that was was the picture of Thought and the news that "he's not shaving his locks". What great news. Dont the okaywebmasters know any Roots news?

Please someone with an OK icon respond to this and defend yourself on why your update doesnt have and actual news in it and is full of your favorite discussion board threads. Slow down on the flash intro's and site redesigns and work on something that the fans actually care about. Respond. Peace.

Well, if someone would call and let us know what they are doing, or if we could get a publicist who feels like doing extra work call and tell us what they are doing, then everything would be straight.

But, we're a staff of THREE on the web side, and that is everything from sales, to mailing list, to server admin, to e-mail answerer, to programmer, to designer, etc...Three people.

So, if no one (and I made all the artists and their managers booklets on "guide to okayplayer) is letting me know what they are doing, and i cannot (i am still here at 1:30am answering e-mails and trying to play catch-up and fixing broken shit on the site and i started at 10am...this is nonstop shit here)...and i cannot play chase with people all day to find out what they are up to, what am i supposed to do besides keep what i DO find on the front page of artists sites and update on the community?

Yes, that was me. It was just me, and just the roots. they were all in philly. the site was much smaller. i would bust my ass with a funsaver camera to get the news. i cannot chase everyone. what do you suggest i do? and no, there is no money to hire "chasers". All the roots weren't working on solo projects either. Lots are now, so they are not in one place.

That's the point. We are WEBMASTERS and everything else you could think of that work at a website (sect, gopher, writers, etc.) We are not researchers, but we do our best. :-) I don't know what to tell you. The most recent news is on their site. there is only so many times i can say "thought is still in studio" cause that's where he is!

As far as the news is concerned - I don't think it's angieee's job to be their puppy dog and follow all the members of The Roots around trying to gather information for the updates page.

I believe that the updates are more than fine. If there's a slow news day then there's a slow news day. It's not like The Roots and affiliated artists are doing something interesting and so important for an update.

Ang, pay no mind...I remember when updates weren't daily and I had to check back everyday to get nothing new. I would much rather get the new Boondocks everyday (cause you know I don't read the paper) and when Roots/okayartists news comes out, good, I'm glad.

ALSO, just LOVE that this post was ironically on the new front page (which, by the way, from a usability/research standpoint is completely excellent.)

Ang, you know what your traffic is, and that is the best measurement of what does and does not work. Don't let one soul bring you down.

Thats what I like to hear Quest. I appreciate hearing stuff like that because that is what I am most interested in, what my idols are doing every day. I wish the rest of the crew were as into the boards as you.

ANY of it myself. It's obviously a labor of love. It's only natural for people to get a raincoat when they think they're being shitted upon, hence the response(s).

I enjoy the interaction and I know there is no way in TWO H*ELLS I could come near stepping up to the plate with this sort of determination.

And although I somewhat agree with your point, it's not always what you say but how you say it. The sad truth is that it seems a lot of "them" are no where near as interested as ?uest in contributing to this site. Let's pray that changes because I think this is definitely precedents that OKP is setting, regardless of what anyone deem to be a "shortcoming". . .however minor.

P.S. I think the overall makeover is a STEP ^, kudos. . .

The people and artists on this site work HAAAARD. If you've ever worked HAAAAARD in your life than you would know why the updates are the way they are and you wouldn't be writing this post.

You're like one of those very few, yet very annoying listeners who used to call the radio station whining and bitching at me cause they didn't like the last hour of music.

Angie puts 100% into this site every damn day. It wouldn't be here without her. Any REAL Okayplayer recognizes this and wouldn't be ignant enough as to complain about lack of news (it ain't her fault!)

Besides, I'd like to see you to write updates that are as quirky and humorous as the ones she writes. Without any news. And without a window to look out.

It ain't easy. I know, I write out of a basement.
