20220, influences

let me also add, that some people who you think are obvious influences for musicians are NOT....

I interviewed Kina and she said that Tina Turner was not one of her influences...considering she is a black woman making rock-based music, I find that incredibly hard to believe (esp. with the vocal similiraties b/t Kina and Tina at times), but that's what she said.

I seem to recall Erykah saying that Billie Holiday is NOT one of her vocal influences, which I also find difficult to believe considering that Erykah appears to have a jazz-influenced singing style, but hey...(you probably know more about that than I do...and my recollection may be incorrect)

I thought D might have been a similar case, i.e. not influenced by (or not admitting influence by) Marvin. You answer "no", so that clears it up.

Thoughtfully yours,

Spirit
