MUSIC SENSATION JILL SCOTT ADDS PLATINUM GLOW
AND THREE SOUL TRAIN NODS TO AMAZING DEBUT
"WHO IS JILL SCOTT" BREAKS ONE MILLION SALES MARK IN THE US!!!

HIDDEN BEACH RECORDINGS ARTIST GRABS THREE SOUL TRAIN NOMINATIONS ? MOST
FOR ANY NEW ARTIST THIS YEAR

Los Angeles, Cali…. Jill Scott, soulful vocal sensation and Hidden Beach
Recordings debut artist, has reached a new milestone in her amazing
career with the official platinum certification of her breakthrough
effort "Who is Jill Scott? Words & Sounds: Vol. 1" -- after only six
months in release. This honor, which is awarded by the Recording
Industry Association of America (RIAA) in recognition of more than one
million units sold, further cements the broad embrace Scott continues to
receive from music lovers everywhere.

But wait…the hits keep coming as Scott grabs three Soul Train Awards
nominations ? the most received this year by any new artist. The gifted
singer/songwriter is up for honors in the "Best R&B/Soul Album ?
Female," "Best R&B/Soul Single-Female" (for the gold-selling single
"Getting’ In The Way,") and "Best R&B/Soul or Rap New Artist"
categories. The nominations were announced at Paramount Studios on
January 30th. The Awards ceremony, produced by Don Cornelius
Productions, will be taped in Los Angeles on February 28 and broadcast
nationwide March 3.

"As always, we are extremely appreciative of sales awards as they are
driven by music fans, who have been our target for this creative
offering," says Steve McKeever, Hidden Beach founder. "It’s wonderful
that Jill’s uniquely intimate style and honest approach have struck a
cord with such a wide array of music lovers. Most importantly, and
while it may be hard to believe, we are confident that this is still
only the beginning; there is so much more to come as her career
continues to unfold."

"Jill Scott is this year's artist breakthrough success story," remarked
Epic Records Group President Polly Anthony, "and she has earned the
recognition and accolades she's received. Her fiercely individual style
and her determination to connect with her audiences have won her both
critical acclaim and an exploding fan base. Jill is a consummate
artist, and everyone at Epic is proud to be associated with her."

The driving force behind the album's success has been Scott's fans who
propelled the CD through a detailed grassroots campaign, and music
critics worldwide who have hailed "Who Is Jill Scott?" as one of the
year's best albums. In fact, the CD, which was released July 2000, was
named the No. 1 R&B album by USA Today, was on Rolling Stone's Top 50
Albums of the Year list, and was ranked in the Top 10 by The Los Angeles
Times, to name only a few.

And Jill Scott's news doesn't end here. Along with the Soul Train nods,
the artist has also been nominated for two BRIT Awards ("Best
International Newcomer" and "Best International Female Artist"), three
Grammy Awards (including "Best New Artist") and four NAACP Image Awards.

Scott, who performed on "Tonight Show With Jay Leno" on January 17th, is
scheduled to perform "A Long Walk" on the E! Sizzlin' Sixteen
television special set to air February 4th and "Late Night With David
Letterman" on March 12.
