My view is the respect
>of saying, hey...thanks for letting
>ME do the interview on
>YOUR show..thanks for playing MY
>records in YOUR city..thanks for
>YOUR support in getting ME
>fans..thanks for YOUR efforts in
>setting up and instore promotion
>for ME...here are some tickets/t-shirts/cd's
>(or whatever) to do what
>you want to with.

i see your point mad. and payolla does make the world go round. (trust me....you thought that "you got me" was just a sign of fan affection? nope. appreciation dollars went into that bitch, right there.

but the point you are making is similar to saying that if i date a jawn and she's wearing some braxton grammy shit, then i --as escort-- have a right to violate her cause "she was throwin me rhythm".....well lemme try another way...

sure there are alot of goodies and perks for me in this business. moneywise, opportunity wise, socialwise...but i do what i do for the love of it. i post here 24-7 cause i love it. and i don't expect nothing in return. and when u get to the point where you start expecting things....this is where you get bitter.

and this seems to be the problem. i'm sure 3rd rail has love (so i hope) for the roots. but i have no emotional connection to him. i'm not from the crib, so i wouldn't necessasrily feel the need to go over the top. unless it's a planned event. then of course i would cooperate. but i feel rail is coming from the stance of how fans approach celebs.....(not saying he's a fan) but sometimes people feel an emotional connection and get dissapointed when the celeb dosn't make it a mutual thing. i felt that way when i saw stevie wonder some time back. here is a man who "raised" me and when meeting him. it was anit climatic. he didn't know me from a can of paint. i could say "hey steve. talk to me!!! lemme drum for you, i've supported you since 1972!!!!!!"

steve don't know me.

now in case rail reads this and gets mad cause he thinks i called him a "fan". i didn't. i just used the best example of human letdown i know. of course someone has to be the bigger man and say "my bad". clearly there was a misunderstanding. but mad....my point was that i feel as though if rail is a true artist. he will dj the dope shit, and not feel the need for any type of reward for his countinued support.

i drum for the love first.
all else second.

Does
>this mean 3rd would use
>this stuff himself or give
>them to friends..don't know. It's
>his show, he puts in
>the work so he could
>wipe his ass with them..who
>cares.
>
>But my point is..where is the
>reciprication(sp?)?? In my years I
>have learned that you don't
>get something for nothing...college DJ's
>MAKE these underground artists popular
>by playing their songs. The
>issue is NOT the tickets
>per se', but the principle.
