16385, What okaytracks do you skip?
Posted by rick, Fri May-11-01 01:12 PM
I create a reply for each of the okayartists (and others), and you tell me what tracks you skip on each album and why.

Damn, even that joint? Aww... what's the name of it... It's like track 12 or 14 or something, it starts with a decending guitar line. If I could easily walk, I'd go find out.

Peace,
Illnes

I like all of these jionts, but I find myself skipping:

Dat Skat...way too corny. Too gimmicky. Despite ?'s insistence that the David Geffen' mismarketing was at fault for the Roots "jazzy image," this song screams "we are jazz hip-hop"

Lazy Afternoon...repeated verse + monotonous beat...just boring to me

The Spark...non descript beat, uninspired rhymes

The Realm....annoying chorus, but mainly the volume fade out annoys me to death

Without A Doubt....Annoying Chorus. I give them props for remaking Saturday Night so well, but Ill stick with the original

You Got Me, Jill Scott Version....

i agree with you on spark, i skip it sometimes
and i might find the step into the realm hook a lil wierd sometimes but the volume fade out???? thats like a highlight right there, its why i love the song, it makes that joint so ill (in a GREAT meaning GOOD meaning DOPENICESICK way) im surprised that actually annoyed someone

Ain't Sayin' Nothin New ????
damn man, thats like my favorite song lol (almost)
i mean damn the reverse loop on there is so sick, just the whole feel of it is just great to me, crazy spaced out glorious smooth yet strong illy type ish (i ramble with nonsense but you get the idea), i know people feel different things im just surprised someone could skip that one cuz most people i know feel that song a lot, definitely one of my favs, but hey :)

no frontin' but this album outside Payback, the joint with the Primo beat, DOOINIT, Assata, and "funky" is skippable.

This definitely was his worst album to date.

daaaamn man, worst album to date, hmm i think you were just lookin for something else, he took this record to a different place and maybe you didnt like it there, wow thats harsh, i and many more people feel this album was extremely ill in that it was innovative original coolasshit and just beautifully put together, but let me not go and disagree with your opinion cuz hey its yours, i just had to respond i guess cuz it sounded harsh, hey maybe the sound isnt for you i guess, whatever, rock on

I disagree...Too much darn wanna-be singing on this joint...cant mess with it. HipHop, Fat Booty, New World Water, the joints with Kweli and Busta, Mathematics stand out to me. Brooklyn and ROck N Roll throw a big monkey wrench in the album to me. Great concepts, poor execution, especially in terms of production.

One of the best songs on the album, altho Kweli kinda gets outshined on his own beat.
16428, wtf???

Down for the Count is the most blazin joint off the album.

i love the album, but this song....i dont know kweli just doesnt fit the beat at all....i really like him on a slower beat, he is jsut more pensive and can get everything he has to say out....

Four Women!!!

I'm kinda feelin this track. Kweli does sound kinda foreign on teh beat, like he doesn't belong on it, but I like it. "I call these cats reynolds 'cause they plastic rap"
