15375, Scratch is a horrible producer
Posted by guest, Thu Jul-26-01 08:31 AM
As u know scratch (producer) a member of okayplayer,is overrated. The man who is at beboxing scratching with mouth and on turntable. Is not good on the mpc or any other studio device. I listen School of Thought's CD. In which i was most displeased with the production, not the rhymes. I have written before about scratch production skills on Okayplayer's board. Because of that I was challeneged by Okayplayer's board browers. I was merely exercising my rights,of freedom of speech.Considering an Okayplayer member (scratch),and the incident that went down the Musiq Soulchild's Album Aijuswannasing. The song was called Speechless,I did the orginal version before it was place on the album. After it was place album only finding that scratch remix the track. If u wish hear my version, click on http://www.mp3.com/dablackasian and knock yourself out.

Sounds liek you got a grudge going. But in no way does it back up you statement that Scratch is horrible. You have stated you opinion, but represented it as fact. (See also your statement of fact that an MPC is better than Scratch.)

Your song got bumped from Musiq's album, so you think Scratch is overrated.

Well he certainly has been rated over you, at least by Musiq :)

Also, pelase feel free to promote yourself using Scratch's website. His largess has not been over rated.

Good luck, and maybe someday someone may use you as a producer.
I know that this kind of post can only instill confidence in perspective employers.

Playing yourself here. You look bitter, you look like your hating. your song got cut, that happens. keep doing your thing and don't tear another brother down. you would have done a lot better just saying "here my alternative version" and I bet mad people would have responded that it was dope. Instead, your going to get negative feedback much harsher than these first two post.

Being a musician/writer myself,I feel your pain dude. It's a good track and obviously they saw potential in it...Thus a remix. But like my man said, instead of sounding bitter chalk that one up as loss. But at the same time look at it like this... Your shit got heard by a tight ass crew (Touch of Jazz) and maybe next time they'll remember the name and seek some tracks from you. If not, fuck em. Move on and do your thing.

First of all Scratch dosen't use an MPC on any of his production. It is all accapella beats. Second Schoolz of Thought dosen't have a CD out, only 3 singles on vinyl so your lying (They are signed to my label), so I don't know what you could have heard unless it were vinyl singles or some bootleg demos from a show. Third Skratch has never produced any tracks for Schoolz of Thought that were released (except a beatbox version of 360 Degrees on napster, and 2 never heard before tracks on Schoolz of Thought's upcoming album entitled "From Thought to Finish"). Fourth all Schoolz of Thought's production has been by Adam Bomb, Intense, Bronze F.M., 88-Keys, D-Smooth, and Questlove. 5 is Scratch's version of "Speechless" is 10 times better than yours so you should be embarrassed to put that link up thats filled with wak beats that sound like they were made in 94, and corney cliche rhymes. And six you a sucker and seven a motherfucker.

lol! damn that was funny. In all honesty, I listened to the track and I like it. I happened to have the Musiq disc with m so I comapred the two. Scratch's is A LOT nicer, but your on the right track, it was a nice alternate to the album track. I could see them dropping it a remix. I wouldn't be disspaointed if I picked up a single for Speechless and your mix was on it.

I agree with the others too, you should take this up with whoever hired you. I would be mad happy just get have got the shot. If you come off salty to them, that may be it for you with them, and anyone else that asks them about you.

I would be upset too if my track got dropped, but hey Primo, Teddy every other producer has joints skipped over for another producers. This isn't really a great comparison, but look at MJ, he's turnin producers down left and right.

I probably shouldn't ask, but what the hell do you mean by this?

The antecendants are clear so I do not know:

1)Who's album you are refering to: The psoters, scratch's, skyscrapers?
2)Who's dick is being fed to the "kid"
3)Who is the "kid" (the posters, scratch, me, skyscraper, tank, who?)
4)Who is riding whom's dick? The kid and Musiq? Sky and scratch? Musiq and scratch? me and a pineapple??

5)Take amtrak to where? With whom? Is this a "train" refrencesas in "many dicks in one tunnel?" and then who are the passengers?

I frankly can not decipher it. Honestly.

The only shit that is out there is some demo's that were sold at shows. So you and your boyfriend are lying. My bio.. is that I manage producers, REAL Producers. That get REAL Work. Producers like 88-Keys (Mos Def, Macy Gray, Beanie Sigel, and dare I say it....MUSIQ SOULCHILD!!!!). Producers like Fury(Lil Kim, Busta Rhymes, Fat Joe, MJG, Eden's Crush). Producers with plaques on their walls. Not on thier teeth. Niggas that make real tracks for real people. Not some bullshit basement wanna be ASR playin cornball who thinks he got skills cause his boys on the block tell him he's nice and still got bumped from Musiqs project(88 got two jionts on his new one! Bwa ha). Hell NO, I heard your boyfriends beats son, he should sell his MPC and pay his rent with the money cause he aint gettin no checks from the industry with beats like that. Especially tryin to hate on other producers. And his boys that rhyme need to go back to thier jobs at the Super Fresh. So you and your lady friend can Shut the Fuck Up!!!! Scratch shut you down BIATCH!!!HA

scratch did not produce SOT.

he was a member who left the group to join us in 1996.

didn't you try this before?

like you thought different results would occur if you tried again?

i mean it's not like scratch heard the original and said "hey that's wack!!! lemme have a try!!!!!"

i'm sorry if u got booted. i get booted all the time from projects.

but there is hardly a need to be trippin over losing a project.

can't we just all get along?

"Now pop ya collar to that..." - Bilal

Man, get off Scratch's dick and read up on the music business. Your shit sounded like the demo mix they give to muthafuckas to come up with an arrangement.

On the real though, man I produce too...but muthafuckas like you who always gotta throw they tracks up in major labels' faces trying to get on never prosper. And if you do it's not for long. DO FOR SELF. Fuck a major label.

Musiq himself has to sell millions just to stick around on Def Jam...Lyor ain't about to carry both him AND Case for the next 5 years while their sales never rocket.

MUSIC BUSINESS = 95% BUSINESS AND 5% MUSIC.

And besides, Scratch's version is nice but it's missing something too. There!!! Do you feel better now?

For the moment, the following is the greatest hook/rhyme/line ever written:

"...but my squad remained focused when we goin' for ours
and we don't - do it for chains or do it for cars
and we don't - do it for lames or do it for broads
and we don't - do it for fame we do it because
it's for the young, black, gifted mind
livin' the story of the most twisted kind
turbulent times swirled around they dome like a turban
it gets disturbin'...feelin' alone in the urban...."
