It has been my experience that a breaking new artist is set at a lower price point so that people who may not have typically checked for the album will cop it. Because at a lower price point---there's no harm in the purchase.
My question is...why would someone *want* the price of their album to be lower? They won't keep it at that price forever.
Why would *you* go to your record label and fight for a lower price? What do you presume your labels intentions are? In most cases, I find that the label wants to market their new artist by saying, "Artist X went platinum on their freshman album." Well....how hard is that really to do at 50% savings or more over most CD's?
They're going to raise the price as soon as the "buzz" gains more fans. Record labels are notorious for doing this with their experimental babies.
I'm certainly not discrediting your artistic integrity; you're a talented vocalist. But I just can't see why you'd actually *want* that.
