FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 14, 2002

SEGA SPORTS PRESENTS THE PHILLY ALL STAR CONCERT SERIES

A UNIQUE MUSICAL EXPERIENCE ~ JILL SCOTT, MUSIQ, AND THE ROOTS
Also Appearing Bilal, Jaguar Wright, Kindred, AAries
& the Magnificent DJ Jazzy Jeff

Concerts To Take Place During NBA All-Star Weekend, February 8th & 9th

Portion of the Proceeds to Benefit VH1 Save The Music Foundation

All Media Invited To Dress Rehearsal On February 6th

Philadelphia, PA – In an unprecedented event of musical proportions, Philadelphia music superstars Jill Scott, Musiq and The Roots will come together for “The Philly All Star Concert Series,” a special two-night engagement of non-stop music on Friday, February 8th and Saturday, February 9th, 8-11PM, at the Electric Factory concert hall.

The Sega Sports™ sponsored event will also feature performances by fellow Philadelphia talents such as Bilal (Interscope), Jaguar Wright (Motive\MCA), Kindred (Hidden Beach), AAries (Mama’s Boys\Atlantic). Hip-hop pioneer and Grammy Award winner DJ Jazzy Jeff will serve as the guest DJ for both nights.

The jam sessions, which takes place during NBA’s Annual All Star Weekend, is the first of its kind and is the brainchild of the aforementioned artists’ managers; Shawn Gee and Richard Nichols (The Roots), Lyzel Williams (Jill Scott) and Mike McArthur and Jerome Hipps (Musiq), respectively.

No headliners or opening acts are billed for “The Philly All Star Concert Series,” which will feature three full hours of ‘soul’ and non-stop musical performances. This event marks the very first time that such a diverse group of musically gifted and critically acclaimed musicians have come together in their hometown to share one stage. “Our city is known across the nation as the ‘City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection,” and the artists and managers have come together collectively to offer great music, synergy and raise money for music education,” says Jill Scott.

A variety of Sega Sports video games will be available to play during this event, including some of its newest sports titles – NBA 2K2 and NFL 2K2. Sega Sports video games are made with the help of professional athletes like Allen Iverson, Rasheed Wallace and Randy Moss to provide the most realistic sports gaming experience on the market.

Tickets for “The Philly All Star Concert Series,” are $75 and are available through Ticketmaster, starting on Saturday, January 19th. A portion of the proceeds will benefit VH1 Save The Music Foundation, to support music education programs across the country. The local media sponsor for “The Philly All Star Concert Series” is the Philadelphia City Paper.

Members of the media are invited to cover a special Dress Rehearsal-styled press conference on February 6th at Electric Factory. Artists will be present for interviews.

She glorifies herself with songs such as - America the Beautiful, My Country 'Tis Of Thee, and her Pledge Of Allegiance and lived luxuriously in comfort, as that, give her suffering and weeping. As much as the harlot glorifies herself living good in the lap of luxury, she is to receive that much suffering and torment

Hey there: does the $75 cover both nites?? Need the info
12935, RE: PHILLY ALL STAR CONCERT
Posted by SPADE, Mon Jan-14-02 03:57 PM
Well it's twice as much as I thought it would be. But it's probably worth it. Considering i probably can't get tickets for the all star events. Plus this show does have alot of talent and i probably won't have the the chance to see it again.
12936, RE: PHILLY ALL STAR CONCERT

does that $75 get u in both nights or are all of the performers gonna play on both nights?

All performers will be performing on both nights.

like, remember that drink i bought you at the bar that time?...well, get me in and we'll call it even.

hahaha, nah but seriously, that sounds like a great lineup....and can't be mad at y'all/the venue for raisin the price like that...i mean it IS baller weekend and every other club will be overchargin....hope all goes well.

Yeah...as you know the promoter (Clear Channel)sets the price, but since it is All-Star weekend, of course they'll set it a lil' higher than usual, but when you get to see The Roots, Jill, Musiq, Bilal, Jag...etc., it would be worth it to me. but I also know some of y'all are college kids and I was there too....and $75 can be steep when you're living the broke campus life.

I hope you can make it.
12940, screw them campus people..what about the broke post grads??

that is funny. i thought i was balling with the $38 roots tix. 3 hours of non-stop music with amazing performers is one thing. but i already have to buy my outfits for all the parties that weekend!!!
oh well, see you at the after party.

this about the be crazy off the hook. that's gotta be one of the best lineups i've ever seen. and 3 hours!?!?! dang, you know some kats are going to show up and perform on that (Mos, Talib, Common, etc). and even if they don't what a line up. i'm bout ready to jump on the NJ Transit and make my way down there. and if you broke, you broke, nothing much you can do about that, but $75 is a steal for this show. i paid almost that much to see Jill at Radio City Music Hall. Erykah was $73 at RCMH. Sade tickets...well Sade was at MSG, let's just say that. i guess i'm just used to high prices living in new york. you are getting more than your money's worth at this $75 show.

Screw any show for 21+. As of Feb 8 I will be 2 months, 2 weeks, and 3 days away from 21. So screw all-stars weekend, screw the EF, screw the after party, screw it all.
I was even going to put out the damn $75 I don't have, but this 21+ shit is killing me.
Screw it all.
