I wasn't aware of this lab's story and how the timeline works out with respect to its opening and the type of research done there. Also makes you think about the initial reaction over there when the whistleblower doctor spoke out, and how he was arrested and warned/punished for speaking out before he died... I wonder if he had any affiliation with the lab?? Or whether some of the initial patients he raised concerns about, were affiliated??

That said, according to reports a significant number of the initial patients in Wuhan had been to the same wet market (I want to say I heard ~26 out of the 41, but I may have read it wrong and I can't remember the link). I imagine that's a fairly unlikely coincidence, especially given the role wet markets played in the SARS outbreak last decade.

Even if there's some shadiness involved with respect to this lab, I still think the wet markets are an important risk factor;pose a significant biological threat to humanity; and should be uniformly, multilaterally, outlawed and shut down in any country they're currently operated. I think the UN and all affiliated states need to flex unequivocally on this issue. Can't keep going through this every decade.
