the 'big black guy' thing wasn't so much to damage your esteem, and i don't see that as a negative (i live in a predominately black neighborhood, and am myself big & black).
i just didn't necessarily see anything SO egregious about the scenario.
we can go w/awkward & uncomfortable. but that can happen to anyone.
what i homed in on was this string of complaints, & i took into account that the bouncer is familiar w/you and has never had any cause to kick you out.
it only leaves several options which probably point to the unfair or unreasonable:
>From the way you told the story, the only things that might >have tipped the scales were the things that had nothing to do >with what you said. >So that just leaves: >A) Your appearance i.e. Big and black in your case >B) Your tone >C) The girl's mental state at the time
i don't know anything about seattle good/bad, so i'm left to give you the benefit of the doubt as well.
but if you're not at least cognizant that ppl can and will (sub)consciously behave differently toward you b/c of your stature then you'll be left w/much confusion & many questions.
>Appearance can >play a role in the effect of a person's words but if you >insist that's not the case, I'll just give you the benefit of >the doubt. Maybe Seattle is just a post-racial haven
