I'm going to assume that you have ancestors who have overcome much harsher things than words. I know I do. If the word "Nigger" is holding you back in the year 2014 I don't know what to say. I just know it hasn't kept a damn thing from me. So if some little girl wants to say it-- fine. Guess what? It's not going away.

American society will never ever rid itself of racism unless the society itself completely collapses. So we can get all in a huff about words or we can find better ways to improve our condition. Getting rid of the word or controlling who uses it will not improve the condition for the majority of black folks.
