bear spray in not illegal, and is easy to find and compact and I made sure my gf and her college-aged sister both got one. I know they say that when you carry a weapon you're more likely to have it used against you, but I always tell my gf to just keep her hand on it in her purse or jacket pocket when she is walking home at night. Always be ready to bust that shit the fuck out if someone gets too close or inappropriate.
