For whatever reason they did it, the stigma remains and whoever knows usually silently judges forever and damn if it doesn't affect their dating life locally. Especially in the suburbs. In a metropolitan city with millions of ppl its easier to carry on. But in a medium suburban town i grew up in, where mostly everybody knew everyone else, its damn near impossible to have a normal dating life afterward. The girl i knew eventually moved to a area a few towns over and got married to a guy in that town. Im actually happy for her that she was able to move past that stigma she live under for so many years.

But like u stated, the double standard is effed up.
