Why is fear of Arab Muslims understandable?

Don't get it fucked up and confused because they've been treated like shit in this country since 9/11. The vast majority of people spewing hateful filth towards arab muslims follow the lead of the messages their masters on 24 hour news networks tell them. Terry Jones caused the deaths of 12 people at UN embassy in Afghanistan after he burned a Koran, allegedly.

I feel like it's a bit too late to pull back the far right fringe of American society that doesn't see the bigger picture globally.
