that said, i still remember vividly seeing cremaster 3 on a big screen at AFI in 2003 and a girl in the audience getting a cell phone call toward the beginning. after it rang, she immediately silenced it and told her boyfriend, "i'm so ashamed." that has stuck with me over 10 years because the audience for nonmainstream flicks are generally so much better behaved and i could hear in her voice that this girl felt truly mortified to have allowed that to happen. it is such a contrast with the open season on all types of ignorance that i witness at every single mainstream movie showing that goes mostly unchecked and will probably only continue to get worse.
