her being a girl certainly makes it worse, but he was wrong regardless.

he was an adult and in control of that bus and responsible for the well-being of the other passengers on it; as well as his own. as soon as she began threatening him, the appropriate response was to put her off the bus--not to threaten her back. by saying that he'd bring his "granddaughter" to fight her, and saying her face looked like it had been slice up or whatever only instigated that situation. and i'm sure he is specifically charged with NOT doing that.
