There's a reason why PEMDAS exists-- so you know how to type something into a calculator to avoid mistakes like the ones calculators might make.

I did the Google Calculator that people are citing. It automatically adds in parentheses, which then changes the answer. If you do the problem without the parentheses, the way it is written, there is only one and CAN BE only one answer.

PARENTHESES

9 + 3 = 12

MULTIPLICATION

2 * 12 = 24

DIVISION

48/24 = 2

Really, if you wanted to type that problem into a calculator accurately, you should type it that way.

Then again, if you couldn't do that problem in your head, then y'all need a refresher on math anyway, no offense.
