The correct answer is 2.
Rule #1
Parenthesis first! (all agree)
Rule #2
Number next multiply(2ab, 2x, 2(a+b) etc.) = Multiplication. (most agree)
Rule #3
PEMDAS
Multiply before you Divide... Add before you Subtract. (source of contention)
Some people are interpreting PEMDAS incorrectly.
This is supposed to be literal in order of operations. Some people are saying the MD means they are on the same level. MD means Multiply First!
And one person straight up said PEDMAS! HAHAHAHA!
So (9+3) first.
Then 2(12).
Then 48/24.
Anything else is just incorrect. Granted the equation could be written more clearly.
